Upgraded 2008 to 2010 through lorinser

Hi everyone. I just wanted to share my experience with the 2010 conversion I'm doing on the S-class. I ordered lorinser full body kit and asked them if they would help me to get all parts necessary for the conversion.

Parts:
Headlignts - fog lights - taillights - mirrors - front grill and all the control units.

Now, everything is functional but I have some issues as fallows:

1) High beam light is not active.

2) fog lights are not active. Once i turn them on they blink and go to normal mode

3) warning massage in dashboard.

anybody has experience with such issues?

I will be posting video and pictures of the car with the new body kit and exhaust soon.

I did but I don't think any of them faced same issues. I'll wait until lorinser are back to operation.

I went to the dealership and they told me we are not allowed to work on such a thing !

Yes... There are a lot of issues to resolve to get the conversion to work. Search the forum for more details. I would guess the best bet is to work with Lorinser. Let us know.

I noticed you have the distronic grill but no distronic under the hood. Are you adding it in too? The upgrades look awesome! I think we have the same color (black onyx), blue black... Update on the error fixes?

no distronic and no update yet. I took it to the dealer and they said we are not allowed to work on the facelifted old models . I'm waiting for Lorinser rep to get back to me

We're not allowed to do anything to our car's. Just bring it to the dealer and have it done there instead. And let them rape. That's what they mean by that! LOL

I actually do understand dealers not wanting to get involved in errors with mods involving wiring and the computer systems... If they mess something up they are responsible to fix it and MB doesnt want to advocate people "modernizing" their cars rather then buying new... There are a whole host of liability issues that they dont want to touch as well...

they refuse to do it just because they don't want old model owner to have the look of the new without actually buying a new one. The service manager there told me we would do it once there is new S-class coming out. I'm waiting for lorinser tech to get back to be after new year.

That doesnt sound right, although I am not an expert here.... I believe the wiring harness and controll modules are different. The LED daytime running lights are not fog lights and the switch in the cabin is slightly different, only indicating rear fog light (i believe no pull out for rear fog like I have on my 07, the rear fog is where the front fog position used to be in 07-09, i think).

The LEDs are controlled in the computer and have the on/off functionality in the instrument cluster. The daytime running lights pre-2010 in the instrument cluster will send the signal to the headlights, not the LEDs in the bumper... So there are some major hurdles to overcome in the wiring and computer before an 07-09 will be able to controll a facelifted front end as it should.

The MB computers in the shop will have no ability to re-program a pre 10 to controll the features properly with out some some reproigraming of the computers which I imagine would be cost prohibitive...

Although there are many posts on the forum about these conversions I have yet to see one that worked perfectly with headlights, LEDs and all functionality working as it should in a 2010+ facelifted model....

Anyone know different??

lorinser sent all the wiring and control unit preprogramed to work on the 07-09 model.

It is not necessary to programm it as if you have programmed the SAM-unit then you have to send it back to us for new programming. Only install the SAM unit and insert the cables as in the mounting instruction.

Sounds like Lorinser should refer you to a technician that is familiar with this, after the money you put into this project... I would demand they set up an appointment with a technician and make this right...

I would like to mention that LORINSER has been so supportive. and here is the last updates

LORINSER informed me that the sam-unit is preprogramed and we should install the left and right Xenon-headlaps with the star diagnose. I connected the car to the computer at MBZ shop and the system was asking for some sort of coding which the shop don't have.

the shop tech told me there is two ways to get the codes ( online or offline ) and they don't have access to that.

lorinser have mounting instruction for the headlamp but they are in german. They are trying to make english version for me.

it seem like there is something minor that we are missing and hopefully I have it resolved soon
