Car does not look to be fake, but remember that over seas, the S Class and others come in low end trim and smaller engines... There is also the possibility that the Chinese Police seized the car from criminal activity as they do in many places in the US.

I also rode in an S-Class taxi in Europe as well as MANY new body style E Classes...

As a South African high-end industrial manufacturer, importer and exporter, I visit China and the far east at least 3 times a year, I want to tell you that you will find fake Lambhorghini Gallardos and the like their too.

Are those S-class wheels? I remember using a S300 W221 in the UK as a taxi, wheels looked better, we only get the S350 petrol W221 as a base model, but comes well spec'd though, with all Mercedes, the option list is like a Porsche.

Each to their own on the chinese s-class cop car.

BTW we have 2 absolutely wicked CLK 63 Black Series cop cars in Johannesburg, for the so-called Special Branch Car Theft Unit, which was sponsored by
Daimler AG South Africa, to help with crime, narcotics, and jacking of very fast cars.

These cars were built to a high level of Speed and Safety, only 4 lucky individuals were trained to pilot these AMG super beasts...

As for counterfeiting, I would submit that since this car is for POLICE use, they would have to use a legitimate car. That said, it is possible it was confiscated. But the Chinese Police are pretty serious when it comes to using counterfeit goods, since they've recently embraced a crackdown on knockoffs (that doesn't mean it's doing anything).

While it is true that the X5 and others are copied they dont copy the badges and do change the design (slightly)...

This police car is almost certainlly Mercedes...

That is true coz we do have S280 in Saudi Arabia while gas prices are $0.45/$0.61 per Gallon. I wish I can test drive one
