Which of these two is more desirable?

Both 08, Sports White/Cashmere, is around 35k miles

The main differences

Car 1. Pano roof, Rear seat package, P2, wood steering wheel $52k indie

car 2. No wood steering wheel but have the p3 package with Night View assist and distronic plus. $56k CPO

I'd go with car 1. Pano on a white car is just awesome. And the rear seat package, IMO, is more useful than Night View assist and Distronic Plus which only get used once in a while.

I would go for the first car because you can use everything on it, plus it looks better. Night Vision is cool, but it's really a gimmick because there's no use for it in the city. Distronic Plus is good, too, but only if you use cruise control a lot.

Thanks Guys, I was hoping you'd say that too. The 4k difference can pay for an extended warranty or screw the warranty and gamble on the 4k. LOL

Personally, I'd go with car #2.

I don't like the non-wood steering wheel as it looks cheaper (no stitched leather), however, with the pano roof, you're bound to have more creaks and rattles sooner or later. Also, with P3, you get the multi-contour/massaging seats, which are much better than the regular seats. With Distronic, even if you don't use cruise control a lot, you still have the active radars which monitor the road for possible accidents and can help you avoid certain situations.

Since the color/mileage/year is the same, the extra $4k is justifiable due to all the extra options + CPO warranty.

IMO $4k for 1 year of warranty isn't anything to be excited about. I'm going to drive both cars tomorrow and decide the better of the two.

BTW: I did a quick search and it seems the rattle issue was mostly on the W211s but not much on the W221

In my opinion, CPO trumps options any day. Rear Seat Package is more of a luxury than necessity; while Night View Assist is useless, Distronic Plus is awesome. Besides, Panoramic Roof somewhat compromises the integrity of the body; the look of a black roof on a white executive sedan is also something that you either like or hate (like myself). You can always add the wood/leather steering wheel later.

I'd agree with the sentiment that NV is pretty useless......although it is great to bring up in conversations, LOL......
the steering wheel I could go either way on.....
and yeah, the panoroof would look great...

go for #1, and try to talk 'em down some more, hehe....

good luck

I have all options in both cars 1 and 2, so in my opinion, I would go with:
Car #1 - massage seats are a plus (although mine just broke, so they don't last long). Distronic is useful, but it doesn't work in stop and go traffic as advertised. Rear seat package is amazing on my car, and wood wheel is a plus. I think I used Night View Assist once, but that's it.

Trust me; I know the better of both cars

Sorry, but with all the issues your car has, I'd say it's a bit of an anomaly and isn't fair to judge other W221s based off of yours.

Thanks Guys, we drove car #1, has new 22" iforge rims which is a plus for me. Everything checked out ok beside a slight alignment problem, I'm sure it has to do with the 22" rims. Got a quote for an alignment for $100 at an indie shop here where I'm buying the car. Final price is 52.5 + tax and reg. If all goes well, I'm canceling my flight home and driving it home in a few days.

powder coat the black part of the rim white and I should be all good. The black rims don't look good in picture but compliment the black roof in person.

Here's the listing.

Car (1) sounds better. The rear seat package is sweet, don't have it on mine. OR... Find a car with all your options! Don't settle if you don't have to. =)

Night vision is cool but only really useful in suburban areas were deer like hanging around the road. Fun option though, I use it alot.

man i'm stunned, the guy called and said he ran carchex and carfax on the car and told me carfax shows 1 accident on the right pillar.

The entire car looks good and original and no crazy repair signs. I didn't get to look at the report but if anyone can run this VIN and let me know, i'd appreciate it.

Car #1 for me too, as long as the accident wasn't too much repair damage.
The pano roof contrasts well with the white body.
You lose the rear view camera though, but night vision is a gimmick.
Have your passenger massage your seat!
You can use the extra cash to get a MB warranty if you need.
Good luck, Post pics!

I'd go with car #1 ... cars with an AMG sport, pano roof and a rear seat package are more desirable than one without a pano ....

BTW the guy with that particular car paid $46,750 at an auction ... plus auction fees he owns the car for around $47,500 .. you should try to get the car for a less than 52 .... especially one with accident history on the carfax ...

Bummed about the accident report, that would be the only holdup. Otherwise, Car #1 is the way to go. The rear seat package is excellent if you travel frequently with people in the back seat, like I do. FYI, you can still mount a child seat base back there if you need to, like I have, in the middle position. I don't drive much at night (maybe 2-3 times / month, early trips to the airport) so NV is totally wasted on me. Distronic would be nice, but it's not exactly like you SUFFER behind the wheel of an S550 on the highway. Man, if that were the case, we should all be so "misfortunate."

Good luck on the dollars. I agree, you can do better like they said above. I think it would be valuable to get some sort of warranty. I've heard that MB won't CPO a car if the Carfax shows any accidents, so that may be out. You'll still have the balance of the original factory warranty, which is good. But, and this is my personal opinion, I'd never, ever keep any S-Class outside of the warranty. But that's just me. I had way too many CPO claims (big ones) on my last S500V4 - 2004 W220.

Car 2 with P3 is also going to have the Adaptive Seats which I really like. P3 car will also have the Infrared glass coating.

My 2008 S Class somehow ended up with a small dent in the roof, cracked windshield and scratched hood. I filed an insurance claim to have them repaired. The paint work was excellent and done at the dealer. When I traded it on the 2010 the dealer still sold it as CPO.

I go with CPO and wrap the roof in black for $250.
