Garage Door Remote Range is Short
I believe the W221 has metallized solar control film on the windows. This, I believe, contributes to the short range of a garage door opener remote when it is inside the car. What I don't understand is why the built-in "remote" on the rear view mirror also has such a short range( if I am more than about 1/2 a car length from the antenna it will not work). The hand held remote supplied by the opener manufacturer works more than 3 car lengths away when not inside the car. Has anyone experienced this?
I also wondered if the MBZ built-in remote has and "external" antenna or has the antenna in the rear view mirror???

Mine's just the same. I sometimes find it useful just holding the button while I'm sneaking up on the door. It starts opening as soon as the signal is in range.

No complaints here. Mine gets pressed when I'm down the driveway at the mailbox, and my door is up & ready for me to reverse in. Still gives me enough time on the burglar alarm entry delay too, because my garage falls under my intrusion alarm system. I guess I've had it go real short maybe a handful of times. I just chalked it up to operator error.
