noise

its the seat frames. i had the same issue w my 08 s550. had to go to dealer several times before they replaced it. they try to put the oil several times, to save money and be cheap. but after talking to the service manager, they finally did it. it works, and i would replace it before the warranty expires. this tread help me a lot.

I have the same issue with loose seat frame. I am getting rejection letter from an after market warranty company called NAC. They are just saying it is a noise issue.

Any suggestion or recommendation for me. 2007 S550 with 46000 miles.

Same problem here on the 1999 E320.

Noise was there since I bought it new. I should of made them replaced the frame/rail when it was still under warranty.
Anyone have any idea about how much it would cost to replace this?

Noises - CPO covered?

Is the seat frame issue covered under the CPO?

*I notice it in my seat but not in the passenger seat but that's only because nobody is usually riding along - I know that sound strange to be a big S class but this is what I drive to work.

*I also noticed the passenger headrest made a rattle sound - it does get better if I lower the headrest - is this a fixable item?

*Lastly - I have an annoying squeaking/chirping sound that sounds like it is coming from the dash - driver's side behind the instrument cluster and possibly against or near the windshield front driver side corner. I may start another thread for this one in case others have come across that but figured I'd lob it in here since this seems like a noise sensitive bunch.

I entered this S550 coming from an Audi A6. I had driven a couple of different A6's over the last 10 years and loved those cars but wanted something different. I am glad that I did as I love the S550. With that said, the rattles and squeaks are driving me nuts - I never had noises in my Audi and that car was half the price of this beast.

I am making an appointment for my noises.

If anyone has some pointers to make sure they find it and fix the issues under CPO please advise!

thanks

From my understanding, it is the tracks for the seat that are bad.

Does anyone know if the seat tracks are covered under the ELW (extended
limited warranty)? I have coverage up to 100K miles, but I bought the car new, so I have the ELW, not the CPO. also, I have a noise coming from underneath the leather cover on the drivers seat. Would this noise be rectified by replacing the seat rails/frame? There are a lot of different noises going on in this thread, but which ones will be fixed?

I have the MB extended warranty on my CLK550. The Service Advisor at Silver Star MB said to get the car in before the factory warranty expired. It's going in on Friday!

My Driver seat had a squeak, only when moving side to side. It's was the right side of the seat for me. I thought it was the center console as my arm is always on it while driving, but it's the seat. I lowered the back, and the plastic piece on the right side is the culprit. I pulled the 2 piecce plastic apart with my hands a little and stuck in some felt, and it's fixed. No need to replace the seat frame

Thanks for the report! As others have mentioned, these cars are so quiet that you really notice these minor squeaks and creaks. Felt does seem to be a good fix for many, but it's often hard to get things apart to add felt

Yes! And correct, the car is like you are locked in a vacuum sealed vault! And any wiggle, anything will be heard. Felt is your friend.

I had the same problem, drove me NUTS! Thankfully a couple dabs of grease along the seat rails and it's quiet as a mouse now, no noise at all. Thanks to all for the tip!
