for the love of God, why can't i find a decent s550 with p2 pkg for a good price
i have been searching since last year. These cars dropped significant value in pricing but the dealers are eating up all the profit and no play for me.
I looked through the auction listing and see nice 07s were going for high 30s low 40s in auction last year. Well this is the story. All the nice ones that are coming off lease, the MB dealer franchise is picking them up and marking it up 15-20k and sitting tight on it. I found a flint gray p2 + amg package that the dealer wanted 53k for it. I checked only to find out they paid 37.5k for it at the auction. I offered them 43k for the car and they did not byte. I was willing to go up to 45k. The car had close to 40k miles and no extended warranty.
Long story short, even almost a year later. I do not see nice example of 07 s550s with p2 and amg pkg for less than 50k. Quiet surprised. Just venting as I really wanted a s550 badly.

Patience or raise your money you are offering?
I spent some time looking for my cars, and got more than I asked for at the price I wanted. It takes some time...good luck!

Once the MB dealers picks it up at auction & does a CPO on it, they put a preminum on the price. I recently picked up an 07 with 17k miles and it was comparable in price with an 08 with over 50k mileage.

Same thing happened with me when i was looking for mine last year, although i did miss 3-4 s550's for a insanely good price, because i thought since it is auction it has to be dirt cheap.
1st was white on black with p2 33k miles sold for 39K (i was hoping to get it for 35)
2nd was black on black with p2 28k miles sold for 41k
Last one was just god send Blk on Blk p3 with panorama distronic and night vision with 37k miles sold for 43k
As famous550 said look out of state, on manheim look at riverside, ca they have tons of them.

The time you should have bought your car WAS summer of last year as that's when crazy deals could be had. I'm not sure if you know but the used car prices rose across the board over the last 8 months or so.
I think over $50K is way too much for a 2007 S550. I think your target price of around $43K is reasonable for a 2007 and right where you should look to pay.
Why don't you look up what's available on cars.com and increase the search radius to 250 miles. I bet you'll find plenty of 2007s in the low 40s. I drove out of state to pick up my car but was worth it as I found what I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay.

Used Car prices are at record highs/inflation (massive correction from the AMAZING deals of '08-'09.... You could get '07 1 year old cars w/ 20K miles back then for CHEAPER then than you can get those same cars at 4 years old w/ 50K miles now).
The prices are just stubbornly high and/or escalating. I bought a '08 Chevy Malibu in '09 with 20K Miles, put 30K Miles (sold it with 50K Miles) on it, never washed it, and over 2 years later, I sold it for just $200 less than I bought it for (and the buyer definitely would have payed my asking price which was the same as what I bought it for). And that's a Chevy Malibu, which was never known for great resale value (treated me amazingly, that car, however).
