Headlight washer works, windshield washer doesn't.

Any ideas?

Washer reservoir is full. Push in "wash" function on windshield/directional stock and no water squirts for the windshield. As said, plenty of fluid and headlight washer projects, squirts and cleans. It's slush time in Wisconsin. Need the windshield cleaned.

All help, direction and guidance appreciated.

Thanks.

Had the exact same problem 3 weeks ago on my 2007 s550. Had to replace the windshield washer hose. If ordering it be sure to have your VIN# because there are different ones, all depending on your car build...(w/o adaptive, w/o heated...). Part cost me around $120.

I had same problem in my case the wisher pump was defect... there is a different pump for headlights and differnet for windshield... just push the button and if can't hear any noise from the small pump than it has to be the same problem as mine was

There was also no noise when I pushed the button for the windshield washer to pump. So definitely it has to be one of the two parts. Good luck

Read that this is common, the internal parts fail.

Easy fix. Thanks

I am having this issue as well on my 2013 S550.

I am not able to use fluid to wash windshield.

Any more updates on this, or what part# is needed.

thanks,

FYI

this is is a pretty common failure

removal of the tank to replace the pump is a bear

get a new grommet for the tank

Hi p30amg08,

Please check my write-up (#26) posted on 04-19-2019: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ntainer-2.html
I took a few high-quality photos showing exactly both of the washer fluid pumps (Windshield and Headlamp), and the grommets.
I hope that helps by visualizing what's what.

If you do not hear the pump working it means it is shot and should be replaced. I'd check the connections before jumping into any conclusions and rush shopping for the part.
Finally, if it comes to the part replacement be careful. Do not repeat my mistakes. Learn from mine. Again, please look carefully at my photos and my short comments.
Good luck!

Pitek
