W221 wheels and offsets questions

I have the standard 18" wheels on my S550 and am thinking of changing. I am looking at AMG's as well as knockoffs and have some questions regarding what options I have.

My current tires are Michelin 245/45/18 and they are brand new so I would consider another 18" wheel but only to reuse my tires for now and also replacement tires would likely be less in the future.

I would also consider 19" wheels - likely not staggered to allow for more flexibility of tire rotation - unfortunately this would mean new tires now as well but it's not out of the question.

Question regarding offsets - how much play do I have?
I believe the stock is 43.
Do I have to do 43 or do I have some optionality here without spacers and without running into any issues?
Lots of the aftermarket wheels are in other offsets such as 35. I have also seen 42 and 44.

Thanks in advance for your help! If this should be in the tires forum let me know.
