Changing tire size
HI, I drive S350L with AMG body kit (2009). I already experienced my first burst with the michelin pilot sport, 255/35/20 series tires up front. Thinking of replacing with a 245/40/20 to avoid repeat offense. Anyone tried this combo? If so, any potential issues? Will keep standard 285/35/20 series in back.

the middle number on the tire is the height of the tire, so 40 in the front and 35 in the back wont work. u will also have to change the rear with 40.

Actually, the middle number represents the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tread. So on a 245/40R20 the tread width is 245mm, the sidewall is 40% of 245mm, and the rim is 20". So wider the tread, the lower the middle number should be to keep the same overall diameter.
The 245/40R20 is actually more similar in diameter to the 285/35R20 tires in the rear than the original 255/35R20. So it should work while giving you a little more sidewall without adversely affecting ABS and speed sensors.
