According to the latest Automobile magazine, all new W222 models will feature a 20HP electric assist motor. There will still be a separate W222 full hybrid model, but apparently some small footprint electric assist is going to make its way into all the gasoline powered models as well. This must be some kind of CAFE related move, the base V8 turbo car obviously doesn't need 20 more HP from an electric motor, they must get some kind of hybrid credit from the EPA by throwing it in there, and on a $100K+ car, the additional cost is meanignless.

If this is true, I welcome it. For city driving as long as the full power of the V8 is instantly at your fingertips if you have to nail it and need the power. Especially for stop and go crawling traffic under 10-15 mph it really makes sense to use electric power.
