Ignition Key Switch Cover (Escutcheon) Replacement

Does anybody have experience with replacing the chrome key switch cover (escutcheon) on a 2007 S550? The chrome on mine has some scratches and I would like to replace it. Is it possible to replace it without removing the dash panel? Can it be pulled out from the front? Thanks.

Just adding a picture for clarification. It's the chrome ring that surrounds the key hole behind the push start button. When I looked at the part on EPC, it looks like it can be pulled out from the front without removing the dash panel, but I just want to be sure.

I have a 2007 Designo Launch. I have a second ignition key that is MB issued and "programmed" for my car. It is not, however, "keyless". That is, it will unlock the doors, but to start the car, it must be physically inserted.

I cannot speak for yours or others (disclaimer?), but using thumb and index finger and pulling straight out, I can pull the "cover"/escutcheon out of the female key slot. I then can insert the physical key to start the car.

My experience is it can simply be removed and replaced w/ a new one. Getting a new one should be fairly straight up. Sorry I cannot help w/ MB part number.

Good luck.

Thanks for the response Em Bee Lover. I'm actually referring to the chrome trim ring that surrounds the key hole. I think you're referring to the push start button. I've attached another pic.

I've already ordered the escutcheon from the dealer, when I see the part hopefully it's pretty straightforward in figuring out how to replace the current piece. I really hope the escutcheon snaps in from the front and isn't directly hooked to the ignition switch, which would probably require removal of the dash panel.

Duh. The surround is what you want replaced. Sorry for the well intentioned, but misguided reply.
