I have not had to work with the pump but changing the pump is a relatively easy DIY task. However most often there is something else wrong with the car if the pump is gone, a leak somewhere that makes the pump work a lot too much. Finding the real issue may be more difficult (unless it is a broken strut that gave up completely).

I will soon be working on replacing the airmatic valve on my front passenger side. I kept seeing a "Malfunction" message and when I ran a quick diagnostic via Star DSS, it pointed out the issue being isolated to that valve.

This will require me to drop the font bumper. I plan to do this work in the next 2-3 weeks - will post an update on how it goes.

At the workshop they do not drop the front bumper but remove the front part of the fender liner to access the airmatic pump and then the valve unit.
