Also FYI, i think 8000k is perfect...very white.. imo....but not blue like 10,000 where you may be pulled over by the police...

Jadeethan,

Did you ever get these installed, I was checking the compatibility and it says that it's not compatible with the 2007 S550?

Thanks,
Tony

Great thread,very informative and inspiring,thanks.
I will stick to 6000K though ,these look 'whitest' to me(I have non-facelift Xenon fronts so think its a better match etc.).

Btw I have just noticed this fine detail in the interiour(shifter)my post 221!

Looking forward to your feedback on these. Will the accessibility to the Parking and side lamp be by removing the wheel well?

Did you every consider changing the yellow "turn signal lamp"? There are a whole lot of led replacements PY 24W (also mentioned in the list you had posted).

I have changed the rear tail lights, license plate light and fog lights - THANKS TO YOU AND YOUR SUPER INPUTS.

I'm going to leave it because I don't want to get pulled over by the policy

Don't buy the parking lights that I mentioned..they don't work even though the seller said they work..so they are sending me free ones no charge..

I wil update this thread again when they are installed

Hi, the long led lights are not an issue to fit but the ones that I got don't work with the car. so if you want to get the 24 led, just make sure that it's compatible...fitment is not an issue as there is enough space to protrude a long LED..

thanks for the led link..i might consider doing that as well...

The new LEDS license lights are a complete replacement of bulb and the entire housing.

- You need to take the trunk liner off..it's held together by push pins.

- Once you take off the trunk liner there are two screws behind next to the license lights on the inside...you need a short screw driver to take them off..

- Once you take off the two screws, close the trunk and remove the plate above the license plate. DON"T attempt to pry off the plate without removing the screws, you will break that plate!

- now you can change the lights out.

Hard to explain but follow this and you should be golden.

Get the lights from this guy bmwled..they are the cheapest that I found and the quality is amazing!

About question # 2 , I believe you have to go under your wheel well to take it off...i think I posted up how to remove it in this thread..see above.. I'm getting those lights probably next week..i'll post up on how to do it with photos...
What do you mean by plate ? Do you mean the chrome strip? That is held by double sided molding tape. am I having to remove and replace the tape also?

You do NOT have to remove the chrome strip. I bought 2 pair from a vendor here. One for a CLS and one for the S. The CLS required you to remove the chrome strip, the S does not, it is MUCH easier. If you are in the SJ/SF area, I can assist you.

I did this the first week I bought the car. All lights are 6000K though, love the look. Also did the puddle lights, interior lights to LED to include the trunk. Car glows like a spaceship.

D2S 6000K

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...s+6000k&_frs=1

H7 for Hi beams

For the fogs it should be in the manual

For puddle, interior, trunk, rear door, and other interior lights

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-MERCEDES-...ead506&vxp=mtr

Initially I just bought the LED bulbs and changed them but they suck and sometimes flicker. I replaced those with the entire new LED part and they perform very well, and stay cool to touch. Also way brighter.

It was kinda of pain but here is what I can tell you.

- The lights have to be installed under the front wheel wells (that's how I did it). So you have to remove part of the wheel well.

- Decide what side you're going to do first. Let's start off on the right side.

- If you're car is lowered, raise the suspension, you don't need to remove the wheel. Since you're doing the right side, you need to turn the wheel all the way to the right like you're turning right. That will position the wheel in the direction where you have space to work.

- Under the wheel well, there are three push pin screws. Take a screw driver to remove the pin only. Pry that off..then remove the screw part second. Don't attempt to remove both...it won't work.

- Once you removed the three screw open up the wheel well, look up and you'll see the back of the unit and you'll see a big round cap that covers the back of the light. Remove that by a simple turn.

- Then you'll see the back of the light, remove the two clips that hold it together...note that this space is gonna be tight...so remove it carefully! You can choose to unplug the light harness before you remove the clips..it's up to you..I removed the clips first took the light off and then removed the harness to the light..again it's really tight!! So becareful and take your time..you can easily bang the bulb elsewhere and break it

- Once you got the light off...just reverse the procedures..keep in mind that you kinda have to push the wheel well down so that there is clearance for you to remove the bulb..it helps if someone else helps you hold it in place and use a flash light..I did it at night with a light..it was hard for the first one..but the 2nd one took me less then 2 minutes to do since I know what to expect..

Disclaimer: Proceed at your own risk...and becareful..i am sure that you can remove the lights entirely to do it but I didn't go that route..

Also to change the other bulbs it's all available once you remove the wheels wells.

To do the left side make sure you turn your whee to the left. I learned by mistake that if you turn the wheel the opposite direction you have less room to move..that was my take of it.

good luck!
Hi Jadeethan. I followed your instructions to the "T" but couldn't locate the back of the light on the left side. There is a whole bunch of stuff there including the distronic plus system and the ABC stabilization system. I may need to take out the bumper and possibly the light as well to access the bulb. I have been trying to find someone who had similar systems and did this upgrade but no luck so far. Your car looks awesome.

So I did my license-plate lights as well and looks great indeed!!

Hope you don't mind OP but here some additions to the installation instructions.

The new LEDS license lights are a complete replacement of bulb and the entire housing.

-Take the edge-strip off ;held by plastic philips and 4x Torx T2.5? then disconnect the bulbs for the red warning lights.

- You need to take the trunk liner off..it's held together by push pins use a plastic wedge work from the outside in

- Once you take off the trunk liner there are two screws behind next to the license lights on the inside...you need a short screw driver to take them off..

The long black plastic plate covering the license plate lighting-units is also held with 3 plastic (yellow)pins(2-right 1-left ,utter-left is held with double-sided tape) that protude the sheet metal of the trunk-hatch.

I have used M6 rings to push these pins together ,then gently push these (yellow)pins throught the sheet-metal to unlock(take the rings off now else you have to find them in the hatch later or you will have a rattle..)

- DON"T attempt to pry off the plate without removing the screws, you will break that plate!

The long black plate still won't budge on its own; it needs some help clipping out of the long chrome strip with a small plastic wedge,(you will see some small indents on the chrome strip )working from middle then right to left ;carefull not to damage the chrome strip and not to break the fragile black plate.

- now you can change the lights out.

To install everything ,use instructions in inverse direction hehe.

Get the lights from this guy bmwled..they are the cheapest that I found and the quality is amazing!

Or somewhere else on Ebay.. the OE number for the facelift is A221 820 08 56 ;basically the same unit original M-B but less bright and not sure wether their error-free.

Good Luck!! Its well worth the effort, as you can see much more at night if you have a reversing camera.
