I get "error" message but no audio. I switch it over to the Musiclink and that works.

I think 07-08 is different than the 09-up. I don't remember. What does your instrument cluster red when you go to it? Mine just say error but I get audio.
Cool thing is my Note II can connect to both bluetooth devices at the same time so my phone works along side with streaming an would mute my music when I get a call.

only problem now is that my mic was not functional so when i talk no one could hear me but my calls came in fine. i took it to the dealership to troubleshoot and they said it was a faulty mic in the rearview mirror and guess what, I have to purchase a whole new rearview mirror which they quoted me north of $1000 for the part. I was thinking WTF really!!! i went on ebay and found a total salvage they were selling the interior parts and found a mirror for $150. with 30day warranty. Only problem is the dealership doesn't guarantee the install if the mirror is faulty because i didn't purchase from them. If the mic doesn't work in the new one then I'm out the money cause of course I wouldn't make sense to pay another fee to uninstall it and put the old one back in just to ship back and get the $150 back. I hope it works when I get it or I could be out of a lot of money and 2 broken rear view mirrors.
Anybody in this forum know a good independent Mercedes mechanic in the columbia, sc or augusta, ga area??

Thanks dannie.
well they claim it would have to be installed and "PROGRAMMED". I'm gonna give it a try myself and hope i don't get any type of error messages or anything.

Thanks to all in this thread for the great information. I just ordered the ML-D100, although it may take a while to get here...it's coming from Korea. It looks like the perfect solution for me. I've been looking for a way to stream music from my iPhone 5 to the audio system in my '08 GL550..I've got the iPod cable in the glovebox. This should do the trick nicely!
UPDATE 05/21/2014: I got tired of waiting for the ML-D100 which I will use elsewhere whenever it shows up so I got a Tune2Air WMA1000 instead today and I can confirm it works with my 2008 GL550. I've tried streaming music, Pandora, and Spotify...all work fine as does the in-car MB phone adapter...I can answer calls and the music pauses and resumes where it left off after the call is completed. The sound quality is pretty good and overall I'm pleased with the Tune2Air. It basically works as though I had a iPod physically connected to the 30-pin AUX cable in the glove box. The only limitations are those inherent in the '08 COMAND system. I can step through tracks with the steering wheel controls...the track information display works for music, Pandora, and Spotify, but in the instrument cluster only...the COMAND display is blank. I cannot select albums via the steering wheel, I have to change it on the phone itself, and the only way I can pause the music is to switch away from the AUX input in COMAND. This is all the way I remember it working with a device physically connected to the AUX cable. Same functionality as the MB Media Adapter...at approximately 1/3 the cost.

I purchased a nab-4000 from amazon for $20 and it works fine. I had to connect it to my pc first to get it to sync to my phone. Then I placed it in my car, with the engine on and it worked . It says error on the dash, but plays my Spotify from my phone like a charm. Hope this helps...

A lot of us use the Tune2Air BT audio adapter including myself and I've yet to hear a complaint about audio quality versus a wired connection. The BT audio format itself is a full frequency spectrum system, and while it does use some compression to stream the data between the transmitter and receiver, it's at a minimum 372kbs/sec bitrate. More than sufficient to stream most MP3/AAC files with no perceived loss of quality.
If you're experiencing low quality playback, it's a problem with the mobile device's BT audio circuit or a problem with the BT adapter's circuit. In your case I would dump the $16 Naxa and try the Tune2Air.

On an IPhone you'll get artist and title info and all the COMAND and steering wheel controls with Tune2Air. With a non-IOS device it should play but not sure about the controls. It's not really an IPhone/Android thing...they both use identical BT audio protocols.

Actually, I did have an Android device for a short time that I planned on using as a dedicated in car player and it had no problem playing through the Tune2Air. No title or artist info though, it just displayed the word "Next". I haven't found an Android that sounds natural over BT audio though. The IOS devices, especially the 5 and 6, sound better to me.

The ML-D100 arrived today! I've tried it on a BOSE speaker dock for iPod and a Sony iCF-CS10 iPod clock radio and it has worked fine so far.
Tomorrow, I'll try it with a Dension GW300 in-car iPod adapter.
Again, I likely won't get to my friend's S-class until later in November, but in the meantime I'll try it on whatever iPod adapters I come across.
Right now, I'm streaming music to it from my Atrix 2 Android phone.
Update: it tested with a Dension GW300 in my 2005 VW GTI just fine. I'll try other iPod adapters as I get a chance and will post updates here. Again, likely won't get to try that S-class until just before Thanksgiving.

I know this is rather old Post, but I wanted to ask - as I also have Dension Gateway 300 unit. Were you able to use Music Link D-100 adapter also with one of the Dension's iPod modes (iPod_UI or iPod_GW)? And were you able to use steering wheel controls with it or only AUX mode was working?

I still have that Dension GW300 unit, though I have moved it to my 2004 Passat, now. I have the ML-D100 hiding somewhere, too, though I haven't used it in a long time. Honestly, I still have an iPod Tocuh 3rd Gen with the 30p connector that I use for my music and podcast listening
When I remember using it, it was just connected straight to the 30pin connector and I streamed through to it. I don't recall if the next/previous track functionality worked with it, but I'll try that if I find it.

If you can please test that for me, I'll be really thankful! . I'm using slightly different GW300 version though as I have it inside my Opel Signum 2008, but it shouldn't be that big difference in functionality. Hopefully it's not a problem to discuss it in this primarily MB forum, but I think it can be helpful also for some other users. So far I tried only one 30 pin Bluetooth adapter: Invery Airdual 100: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Airdual-Car...-/263915790078
I thought that this is some kind of newer (and still manufactured) "mutation" of the Tune2air WMA1000, but after testing it I don't think so... As on Airdual adapter, firmware is not upgradable and I wasn't able to use steering wheel controls with it while connected to my Dension unit (AUX mode only worked, but worked without any problems). And mentioned Dension's iPod modes weren't able to turn on with it. So hopefully ML-D100 will support at least one of these modes . I red somewhere on the forums, that original Tune2air WMA1000 adapter should work with Dension GW units at least in iPod_UI mode, but I would rather buy ML-D100 adapter if possible as I would like to use it primarily with Android phone (so it basically should have the same functionality -> streaming of the music via Bluetooth + steering wheel controls, but for better price if ML-D100 would work)...

Sorry for "spamming" but, some additional questions - as you wrote that you are still using iPod with the Dension unit, normally you are able to skip the tracks via steering wheel controls / radio unit buttons while iPod is connected, or? And while iPod is connected, are you able to use both Dension iPod modes (iPod_UI, iPod_GW)?
