Smile Need help...looking for a 2007-09 s550 4matic

hi,

i am look for a 2007-09 s550 4matic but i am not sure what i should pay for it.

and, are these cars still reliable once they cross the 50-60k miles mark? what sort of maintenance expenses can one expect at that stage and beyond? and, is the extended warranty worth the extra $3-4k?

any guidance/help would be greatly appreciated.

thx!

check TrueCar, and Edmunds.... also you can call a random dealer that buys cars and ask them what they could offer for the car (find one loaded like you want, and get the VIN)... they will tell you whatever wholesale is (minus some thousands im sure)... gauge from those estimates and expect to pay a few grand higher than that.

I thought this might help those concerned about the Idler Gear issue :

You can subscribe to EPCnet online here :

http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/

This will allow you to pull the datacard for your car which will include the engine number, transmission number, and a list of all of the installed options.

According to the TSB :

Equipped with M272 Engine Up to Serial No. 2729..30 468993 or M273 Engine Up to Serial No. 2739..30 088611.

The material for the balance shaft sprocket and the timing chain guide wheel (idler) was modified on engines past the serial numbers listed above.

( my engine # is 273961 30 113234 which is past 088611 so I am good )

Hope this helps,

Nick
