So it's been a week and I was traveling on a road in upstate NY and on the highway there was a huge pothole. Traveling around 50 or so and no way to avoid especially with my family in the car.
Hit it very HARD and did considerable damage to it, to the point that it cannot be repair and has to be fully replaced.
If you have bent your wheels in the past, has anybody sued the town or filed a claim. Clearly the road was reneglicted and I feel that someone should pay for this and I am sure others will be victims as well.
I didn't file a police report but I just heard today that in some places you can file a claim and get reimbursed. Wanted your feedback before I go to the town and make a legitimate case.
Pic below and fyi, I have 20's and it was the front that got damaged.
Thanks..

There's a member on the C63 board that hit a pothole that did damage to his car. He filed a claim with the city, they denied it. But then he called his insurance company and they took care of him without raising his fees.
If you file a claim with your insurance right now with no claim, it's possible they'll consider this to be a collision and your rates will go up. But if you file a claim with the city and they deny you, you may be able to get money from your insurance without them increasing your rates.
I guess aside from time, it doesn't hurt to file a claim.

Sorry for your damage. Besides filing a claim as suggested here, you should call the people listed in the link below. They are the best at repairing wheels on the planet. Just another option.

When I saw the title, I just assumed this was a New York or New Jersey locale. Boy do those cities have some of the worst roads in the US.

I developed a slow leak on the driver's side front. The tire dealer said I had a crack rim.
I was able to repair it a wheel franchise location. The franchise repairs and sell rims. http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/locator.html there are locations in many states.
I needed a rim for the older MB E320 the tire shop ordered one it was not in good condition.
I located a junk yard about twenty miles from the city the yard had about five rims we selected the best one.
It is better to visit a yard than have an item mailed to you.
Check out theses site for parts. The first site list all used MB parts sellers by state. The site also let you search by year and model for any parts. The information is sent out to all dealer that may have the parts. I received about dozen replies from all over the country on a wheel for my 2000 E320.

Turns out that when I get my merc from the dealer I had purchased a wheel and tire protection and after market wheels are covered..not sure if the size will be a factor of it qualifying for a reimbursement..I will keep you all updated.
Thanks.
