20 Porsche 911 Carrera S 6 $2,626
Methodology
Insure.com commissioned Quadrant Information Services to provide average auto insurance rates for 2013 models. Averages were calculated using data from six large carriers (Allstate, Farmers, Geico, Nationwide, Progressive and State Farm) in 10 ZIP codes per state. Not all models were available, especially exotic cars.
Averages are based on insurance for a single 40-year-old male who commutes 12 miles to work each day, with policy limits of 100/300/50 ($100,000 for injury liability for one person, $300,000 for all injuries and $50,000 for property damage in an accident) and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. This hypothetical driver has a clean record and good credit. The rate includes uninsured motorist coverage. Average rates are for comparative purposes. Your own rate will depend on personal factors.
These numbers seem high, I currently pay about $840 per year for my CL550. When it was new, I paid less than $1050 per year with $1000 deductible from one of major insurance companies listed above

Surely there's a typo with #5. Is it supposed to be $3,814 as it stands right now it doesn't fit chronologically in that list, and it's also makes the CL63 more expensive than the CL65.

this is hard to believe given my anecdotal evidence that i offer here. i fit that profile bang on described by the op (plus i don't smoke, i go to church on sunday and i clean the wax out of my ears. haha); it is scary how their description describes me perfectly. for my 2012 cl550 4matic with those aforementioned coverage limits and a $500 deductible, i pay state farm $521 every six months or $1,042 yearly (much like the op declared) or a bit more than a THIRD of what listing #12 above suggests. again - i AM that profile to a tee. i am skeptical ,,,

Something is weird about these lists.. how does a BMW 650i cost more to insure than a car more superior to it that's not even on the list (BMW M6)?

I was also surprised how much it cost to insure my s550 ( $498 every six months for the S vs $335 every six months for the c350 ) although I'm not paying anything near what is listed above !
I guess it makes sense though, the car was $100k brand new...

It appears msn.com copied the information incorrectly.

What I heard affects the insurance rate is that while S550 drivers get in less accidents, when they do, the cars are a lot more expensive to fix.
I think they'd much rather steal a car easier to dispose and make a profit.
