17" winter rims on 2011 S550 4matic?
I have 2011 S550 4matic and I am thinking about getting 17" E-class or C-class rims with ET35 to put 235/55/R17 Hakka7 studded for winter. Should I just stay with OEM 18" rims and 245 rubber? The cost of Hakka7 in 18" is $400 vs $200 for 17" rubber. 17" vs 18" rims cost the same.
On a side note... I have my own set of 16" winter wheels from 2008 E-class. I guess 16" rim just won't fit 2011 S-class.
Thx.
Its the original wheel-size for my car, later MB started using 18 inch as a standard on W221 afaik.
16 inch is crazy because you will lose proper feeling/control over the heavy car going fast round bends or curves.
Be carefull with the ET-values and widths if you are using wheels from other MB 's: as the wheels may or may not clear brakes and/or wheel-wells.So try them on first, best is to get a set of W221 rims.
Also,as long as you stay within 5 percent of the original outer circumference of the original wheel(including tyre) you're golden.
