S550 Cylinder firing order
have a 2007 S550 misfiring on cylinder 5. changed all the spark plugs but check engine light never went off. and then hard idle and sputtering came back in one day. hopefully its only a coil or wires but which one. i tried two different firing order switch outs of the coils to see if the misfire would follow the coil. but not knowing the actual order, not sure if i'm switching out the right one or not. i guess i could switch out and entire bank from one side to the next but i figured i'd ask before i did. what i did change so far in testing was if looking from front to back 1-4 down the passenger side and 5-8 down driver side i switch out 1 and 5, still same misfire. then if its alternating from passenger to driver side as in 1 on passenger front and 2 on driver front, i switched out 5 and 6, still same misfire.
so does anyone know the actual cylinder firing order?
another note, now it seems to sputter more now than before i even changed the spark plugs.

Anybody ever come up with the cylinder order?
From what I understand, the cylinders are numbered as follows: The passenger's side is 1 to 4, front to back, and the driver's side is 5 to 8, front to back. This is not the firing order, however, but misfires aren't reported by firing order, they're reported by cylinder number.

A "misfire" OBD code almost never means there is a spark plug problem.
It's usually the MAS but could be as simple as air cleaner not seated properly on the MAS.
