S320L CDI
W221 Rear diffuser

Hi Guys,

I am in need of some advise.
I have a 2008 S320 CDI long wheel base.
I have the AMG front and rear bumper.
At present the rear exhaust pipes are not visible as they are hidden behind the rear diffuser and are pointing downwards.
I want to change this so that I can put on a quad tile pipe.
What I wanted to ask is if it is a straight swap for the rear diffuser i have with that of the w221 s63?
I have been told that I have the option of the square or oval quad tailpipes but i need to find the correct diffuser.
MB told me that they have the s63 (W221) diffuser on sale for 169+vat but cannot guarantee it will fit.
Any advice?

All you have to do is just change the rear diffuser and add quad exhaust tips, it works fine. I attached a photo of s320 long wheel base, as long as it's a amg bumper all you have to do is swap out diffuser

Ok that is good news. Where did you purchase your rear diffuser and tailpipe from? Was it direct off MB? Is there a specific one I should be asking them for? I have a 2008 w221. Should I get the s63 diffuser from 2008 as well?

Also are the diffusers for the oval and square tailpipes different?

If your car has AMG sport package like picture #1 then you just need to change diffuser, if you don't have sport package like picture #2 then you need to change whole rear bumper.
I got mine from dealership, just get a vin number for a S63 or S65 when you order it.

One more thing they sell diffuser on ebay in carbon fiber but you would have to get center piece from dealer

I have attached some images of my rear bumper and diffuser. I have called Mercedes and they have said i have the AMG styling pack on my car. So am i ok just to buy the s63, s65 diffuser from them and do a straight swap?

Also, what is the difference between the s63 and s65 diffuser? I have seen 2 varieties but not sure which one belongs to the respective models.

Also, why do you advise me to get the 2010-2013 diffuser when my car is a 2008 W221? Should i not be getting a 2008 s63 diffuser?

many thanks

What is confusing me is that a company called CKS (anyone had any experience of them?) have told me that the rear diffuser comes in 2 parts and that is why they charge £310 opposed to the 165+vat that mercedes charge. They mentioned an inner and outer skin. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yes that's correct there are 2 pieces, the diffuser and a thin layer that goes on top of the diffuser.

If you get the carbon diffuser on ebay then you need the center rectangular piece that attaches in the center between exhaust tips

Does anyone know the MG part number for the diffuser and the 2nd layer.
Also, does anyone know what this second layer is called?

On another forum someone stated that the 2008 w221 C320cdi only has a single part.

The little piece in the middle is this part # ? 2218853225

is the first pic circled item same as part 22 on the second pic? looks kind of different on the second picture. But one of the part #s provided by JT matches piece 22 in the second picture.

As long as your rear bumper is AMG you can swap out the rear diffuser for the 2010-2013 s63/s65 rear diffuser

my cousins has a s320 2007 that all he did was swap out diffuser, see pic above where I commented earlier

Hi JT.550,

Do you have a VIN number i can use to call mercedes with. They said that if they have the VIN of a vehicle with the diffuser on it, they can confirm if it will fit my vehicle. I am just about to order the parts you suggested but they keep telling me they cannot guarantee it will fit nor will they refund for the items if it doesnt.

Many Thanks

Mercedes will not tell you it fits, listen if you have an AMG bumper the rear diffuser is all you need to swap out, find a s63/s65 take pic of vin and give it to dealer that's all you need
