Angry command unit overheating

For the third time in 6 months The command unit in my 07 s600 failed with a message about the device overheating, it has happen twice in the last 3 days

after restarting the car, the unit comes back, this time even though the unit came back on I couldn't get any sound out of anything, I did a soft reboot(holding the eject button for 10 secs), nothing I ended up doing a reset of factory settings still nothing then this morning i started the car up and i got sound and phone functions back, it worked for about 20mins when I got the same message and the unit failed again. WTF

I love this car but little things like this are driving me nutz, any ideas or feedback will be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a cooling fan in the unit does not function properly, either a vent hole of the Comand head-unit clogged or blocked?
If any aftermarket installation in that console ??Perhaps its that?

Thanks for the reply. I don't have any aftermarket upgrades. I have read that this fan issue is a "know issue" anyone have any experience getting this issue fixed.
