Upgraded my upgrade
Wanted to freshen the rear lighting on my 2009 S550 so I installed the facelift tail lights. Love the new look but it introduced an unexpected problem - rear view camera just doesn't see so well in the dark with the new lights, reversing lights are just a little too dim compared to originals.
So I just installed new LED taglights to modernize the look further and voila! the rear view camera sees much better in the dark (the new LEDs are super bright). Unexpected bonus.
Not as if you needed an excuse for more upgrades.

Search for "Led License Plate Light Lamp for Mercedes-benz W204 W212 W216 W221 Brand NEW" - "GP Thunder" was the vendor.
Arrived within a week.
Installation was about half an hour (had to remove trunk liner and a few other pieces).

Thanks for the install vid, took me about an hour and a half but I took my time and cleaned in places you'll never see(ocd 
). Really adds a finishing touch to the car as it matches the front headlights. Really helped with the backup camera too!

or my view is jacked up. Check out the difference in these pics. My stock lights look like bulbs to me, not LED's. The other pic is the LED from GPThunder.

This is very interesting. For 2010+ models for the facelift got new tag lights for the license plate. You can tell at night because they are now a "pure white" color, instead of the off white color on older cars.
So the question is, are what you bought an "upgraded version" of what the 2010+ have? Definitely take some before and after pics.

This is interesting. So whatever Mercedes did in 2010+ is unclear.
