Feedback needed: cheap led headlight conversion?
I'm not too keen on putting big-*** ballast resistors under the bonnet.
Not very elegant, and certainly potential for burn/melt issues.
I just received an SDconnect system from China, playing with it to see if I can maybe do the re-coding for facelight lights.
I'm having some issues with the system, some due to newbie, some due to Chinese QC, or lack thereof.
So did you buy it from china , or did you use a different source ...
I noticd with these Chinese one you only need one TCU and the others are not needed ..any info on that .

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I own a company in China with direct import / export rights. I had it shipped to my China office, and then we shipped it to the US. It was packed horribly from the Chinese factory.
The unit came with multiple cables, a laptop with the software pre-installed, a dongle, and the diagnostic interface.
The physical quality looks good, but the wireless card inside is a used D-Link, and it eats batteries like crazy. (the laptop is used as well Dell D630)
I am rigging up an external power supply for testing.
Forgive my ignorance, what are TCU's?
I got the unit working with a hard-wire on a 2012 SLK350 and got the full data stream through Xentry, but am still trying to get the wireless to work. I can see the SSID in the wireless access points, but that's as far as I got. I have only limited time to play.
I also tried it in my 2007 S600 but apparently the older vehicles use DAS instead of Xentry (correct me if I'm wrong), and upon launching DAS I get a data communication error.
My gut feel is that the unit is fine, it is just my unfamiliarity and experience with the app that is causing problems. I would really like to meet someone more knowledgeable locally to assist me.

Also the price of 2000 RMB seems to only include the modification, not the headlights themselves.
