My driver door window suddenly stopped working on my 07 S550, does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Did you read the bulletins that konigstiger has posted?

The bulletins indicate they are for model year 2008. Am I misunderstanding?

I took my 2007 S550 to a Mercedes repair service (not dealership). He said the PB 67.39/22
"fix" relates to the window NOT continuing to rise, after the button is released. He said it does not relate to the window not working at all. He said it needs to have the motor replaced. I know no one can tell me if my motor is bad, but is he right about what the "fix" is for?

You do not mention if SDS was used to diagnose, check your PM.

I don't think the bulletin concerns the case your workshop explained. We have had forum members with dead windows that were fixed with a SW update.

The validity of that bulletin for MY 2008 is not clear to me, the complete bulletin should tell more (I don't have access to US bulletins, only European and they have different reference numbers).

The issue with "one touch" operation, the fact that the window does not open or close fully from a short operation of the switch (all the way) sounds more like the typical calibration issue (the fix for this can be found from the car manual).

Please report how the issue got fixed, would be useful to know.

Thanks for the input. I'll let you know what happens. I did tell Konigstiger in a pm that the repair place did hook up a diagnostic system ("star") & run that. I guess Star can't tell you if you have a bad window motor. He said the only way to know is take the door panel off to check. Since this isn't a MB shop, I wonder if his Star diag. gets updates on a regular basis. Hope so.

I got the driver's door window fixed. I offered the repairman the DTB number and subject matter when I got there. That offended the gentleman who took a quick glance at it and shoved it back in my hand without comment. When I started asking questions about the possibility of a software update, I was cut off and told, basically, that he knew what he was doing - and that the door window motors go out all the time. I really trusted this guy's intentions, however misguided, so rode the job through.

By this time I had the actual DTB from Konigstiger. The job got done and I met a much different personality when I went to pick up the car. He explained it was not the motor, but rather the door control module that needed to be replaced. At that time, I offered him a copy of the bulletin regarding this problem. He carefully read it and said the software update was the problem, but the module was damaged and had to be replaced.

Perhaps if the software update had been done earlier, the module would not have been damaged. Just a guess/thought.

I was charged less than initially quoted and feel that a price under $500 was good since I truly believe anyone else would have replaced the motor, and then, when this didn't fix it, would have replaced the module and charged for all that with associated labor. I went 2 other places for estimates and am very pleased with the job that was done and the price he charged.

Thanks again, Konigstiger, for your input and the DTB detail.

My 2007 S550 driver window stopped working. After reading all the threads I checked around to see if local shops could code the window. Most of them presented a foreshadow of potential parts and labor in addition to the new software option. I was even told "90% of them need a module" None of that sounded good since reading here it seems 99% of them need a software update alone for the fix. I went over the the actual MB dealer, had some brief discussion and presented them with the DTB deal and asked for the cost on the software update. 149 bucks. they ran the scan and found an error code related to the driver window switch not working, updated the software and it worked. They washed the car and I drove off.

main dealerships - or any good independent brand specialist - Merc OUGHT to do it for free under warranty but they wont - these days will want to charge $300 dollars to see what's wrong in a totally unnecessary diagnostics scan - were they just scam money - however almost no one left who worked on these old cars in most dealerships - I thought someone was suggesting they no longer support and or work on the old cars now ???
