I am ready to add remote start and video in motion to my 08 s550. I have researched and found Mid City Engineering products to be seemless and somewhat non invasive.

Any input on their products. Anyone selling/installing their products.

I am in the columbia, SC and Augusta, GA area.

Looking for:

SKS221 with part# KG20 for keyless go
VIM221K - VIM+Programmer+Cam

I want to be able to use my SmartKey which is why I am leaning towards this. Would a Viper, etc from Best Buy or somewhere be just as effective? I really didn't buy a MB to make a lot of cheap modifications but I am still not looking to break the bank.

I have em on my car, reliable product. Smart start only works in the range of your mb key, but you can add a module and start your car from anywhere with your smart phone. Installed it myself, easy.

Nj..i have the Video in Motion. Installed in 20 mins and no problems at all. Got mine off of ebay.

Thanks for the info. I looked on ebay and i couldn't find the module for the s550. I sent mid city an email and they replied with authorized dealers for me to go to. I called one and they quoted $200+ for installation of the SmartStart and the VIM each. so thats $400 on labor. If anyone knows where I can order the devices separately and do the install myself it will be greatly appreciated.

If you're not in a hurry keep checking eBay. I, like HD, also found mine on eBay for a steal. $400 for install is a rip, you can do it yourself.

How talented are you mechanically? I am a professional installer and $400 to install these items is fair. The installation shop will also stand by their work. And NO, you must use the dedicated Mid-City product, or one of the new iDataLink ones. These are NOT like the typical old-school remote starters.

You can get a simple do-it-yourself software solution for $200 from www.bimmerguru.com/supported_models . Scroll down the page for MB cars that are supported

I see that you are posting this a few threads and being as though this is a W221 forum and it clearly doesnt work for them, did you even look at the link you are posting?

Yeah the S is conspicuously absent, but other than that it's a really smart option.
