LOOKING FOR A CL 600 or 500
Unhappy Command unit keep failing

Took my s600 to the MB buckhead, to finally address this issues i have been experiencing with the command unit. It keeps failing giving a over heating message.
First the service rep said it would be 400 dollars to take a look at the command unit. Then when I called him on it, the diagnose was then 150.00.

before doing anything and after he kept referring to the command unit as a hard dive. he told me the unit needs to be replaced. which confusing me, since it's not totally dead.

There is an error code: saying there is an open position on the bus at position 3, he says that has nothing to do with the issue. but he wants to me to get the refurbished unit they have on hand for 1900 + labor. that's crazy anybody have any advice on my options? I asked him about a MB good faith repair he basically told me hell no.

A 600 out of warranty? You are a very brave man my friend. It sounds to me as if the tech is suggesting the COMAND's internal hard drive is failing, and that it can't be replaced, necessitating a new or refurbished COMAND unit. If you don't trust the guy's opinion I guess it needs to go to another shop for a fresh look. $1900 + labor seems high for a refurb though. Mercedes Refurb website https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servi...ufacturedparts puts the unit at $1,430. You can call around to some MB parts department using that Part #.
