w221
aux-in adaptor
hello all
i have a w221 07 reg. It has 6 dvd changer, but no aux in port.
i found this on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2515540489...84.m1423.l2649
looks good for this price. Has any one had any experience with this adaptor.
if yes, how do you access it from comand as there is no option for aux in in the menu.
many thanks in advance.

By itself, this device is NOT compatible with your vehicle. There is no place to connect it. There is an AUX port on the back of the radio which is used with an IPOD integration kit. Installation requires activation of the AUX port via the Mercedes DAS system which is usually only available at dealers.

The original AUX adapter cable is not much more expensive and while installing that, you can install the AUX video cable at the same time.
There actually is a connector at the rear of the COMAND unit. You just have to insert pins to the existing connector housing.
AUX port activation does not necessarily need a visit to the dealer, I did it myself when I retrofitted both AUX connectors (of course you need the star tool).
Retrofit instructions can be found from WIS.

This is what Diesel Benz once posted and I have saved that you may need -
But I don't know how much.
Part numbers should have been posted already but I could not find those from the forum. Anyway, the AUX audio cable is B6 782 3118 but why not purchase the AUX video cable B6 782 3121 and install both at the same time.
