Please Help! Remove CAT error (CEL)?

I have my 4 CATs removed from my car. Initially I was told that during a tune I would be able to have the CEL regarding the missing CATs removed, however that is not the case. My car has been to shop after shop trying to get it removed.

Does anyone know how (using STAR, etc) to remove the CEL? Step by step. I would be forever in your debt!

Thanks,
Erik

Removing your cats is not a very smart move. The OBD II system will not let you fix that error. What you will have to do if you want to have more performance is to actually put the cats back on and plug in the O2 Sensors. You can actually drill out the cores of the cats making them somewhat useful. They will work and give you the flow through without the back pressure. You do know if you are caught removing cats from a newer car you can be in Federal violation and be fined heavily. It isn't a smart move. On my Bentley I had the car remapped, and the secondary cats I drilled through the middle leaving just the side of the inside of the cats. They pass CA emissions perfectly and I still had over 700 hp and over 700 tq. The car would spin all four tires even with the traction control on. You do know once you have thrown away your cats, the new ones must be compliant and the serial numbers have to be recorded.

You will not be able to do what you are asking. STAR is not designed to do that. You would have to have your ECU remapped but you may not get anyone to touch that as there is a heavy fine associate with it. A chip tuning company would be the one that would have to do it, but I would recommend putting them back on.

As would I. When you start getting into Federal violations, then you are asking for BIG trouble. Put the Cats back on, You have four, if I am not mistaken. You can hollow out the pre-cats (meaning making them flow better but leaving some substrate in them, but do not touch the main ones. As long as the pre-cats still function you will be compliant but if your driving your car without any of them and your car has an inspection and they see you are driving without them, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.
