2010 S400 what can you really get for it.
I picked up a repo S400 for resell at auction with around 40k mi on it, I'm doing work on it and getting the battery pack rebuild. I've been told you can't get retail of 35k about, you can get about in the 22 to 26k range for it. I was told mb sales man I'm friends with. That's about what you can get for them.I will make money on it. I do agree there are better benz's for 35k, I'm not saying a s400 is a bad car, if I was car buying a s550 is a better choice. Tell me what you guys think and I will post some pics if anybody wants me too. I've have seen them listed for more 35k and I've seen them below 35k.

Spotted a 2010 CPO S400 w/47000 miles offered at $36970 by SF M-B.
Salesman claimed price was reduced fro $49,000 LOL....

The problem is, no one wants a s400. It was rated bad and every review bashes it. If they are ever fit sale, they never sell unless the price drops super low... I think most want "550".

I agree with you that's what I think too, I had a 550 and I don't why would a person want 400. Unless the price is really good on it, I'm planing on listing it below value. It drives well, but it lacks power that most a class owner would want.

Here is a photo of it when I first got it at auction and I don't know what's the story with the sunroof, which I'm in the process of replacing.

Cool. Yea, I think at the right price, and what you paid, you could make a nice profit. Please keep us updated on the work.

S400 vs S550
I am in the market for an S550 2010 and above preferably, and i have been looking at the S400 too, besides the Power difference in the two models, what other differences is there?

Well, I can tell you now, you aren't going to find a S400 with an AMG package... Super rare. If you want that, you aren't going to find it. I'd stick to proven gasoline engine with no battery.

The 550, 400 and 350 are all the same base car and come equipped the same way, depending on the year and what was standard at the time. They can all be fully optioned out. Only difference is engine. (The 350 for example is not a more stripped down version of a 400 for example. The numeric designation after the model type just refers to the engine). It just depends on how the car was ordered. ie dealer inventory which will have a pretty common set of packages, or customer order where you can have all sorts of permutations.

The S400 can be more of a money pit, I will say after doing work on one stick with ether a s350, s550 or even s63. The S400 is better to take to hybrid hybrid car specialist than to a mb dealer. The batter pack is cheaper to get rebuilt than replaced.
