Tint water and electronics

Hey guys, I've been searching for tint posts in the 221 forum and I have come across one guy who seems to have had this issue, which is why I am posting this. When I had my 220 it was a big deal to tint that car because the soapy water would go down and ruin the modules in the doors. When I had mine done the shop was pretty pissed off because they said it was a pain in the *** because they used such little water.

I would have thought the issue was resolved with the newer car, but like I said I found someone with a 221 who lost a power window due to tint water. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Chris

I had mine tinted, and they really soaked the windows like they did with my E coupe, I haven't had any issues at all. I think the only thing I don't like about tinting the S vs the E is that the E looked BLACK, but the S looks a little mirror-like due to the windows being UV filtering or something. Someone is welcome to correct me if I am off base on this one.

Thanks for the info, that actually brings me to my next question. I don't really care as much for the tint, I usually do it mostly for the UV protection, to protect the dash and interior. Are the windows in this car really already UV protected? If so then that solves my problem right off the bat. Thanks!

I used infrared film on my S550, regardless of what film you use, the factory glass will give that reflective look. I hate it when the back glass and the sides are different so when you tint it, the appearance between the sides and back glass is more noticeably different.

Yes, the S-class has UV protection all around. The dash, seats, and everything else in my 2007 all look brand new after almost 9 years.

The infrared takes it to the next level. It not only blocks nearly half the heat, it will block more uv than the stock glass. 99.9 UVA and UVB. And it's nearly clear film.

Hmm so it's like tint but clear only to block heat and uv?

Thanks Dave!
