4matic at work...
The 4matic car was in Europe and clearly could be seen that it had winter tires. The rwd car was in the U.S. and prolly (could not tell) had all season or summer tires.
Winter tires make all the difference in the world. In Europe they are actually mandatory during the winter months in most countries that see snow.

Gee, that kinda means that I need to get another set of wheels ($2400 - OEM Wholesale), plus Winter tires ($800 - 1200), or drive my Jeep with Armour Tracs. Hmm, ok, since I have the Jeep already, I will drive my Jeep with Armour Tracs ($600)
Actually I am on the lookout for some wheels for a good price and I may use those as my winter wheels.
