If we had AutoBahn like highways

Just returned from a trip to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. For a long stretch of road I traveled between 85 and 90 mph. When road changed to two lanes I was forced down to 75 and it didn't feel right. The S550 just wanted to Cruise Effortlessly around 90 or was that me! Props to the Audi A8 that stuck with me the whole time. Btw the WAZE app is a must on the open road.

There would probably be more bad accidents due to people not allowing enough following distance when going at speed. Most people in this country do not drive on the highway properly. They refuse to drive right pass left and it's unsafe and annoying. What happened to the 3 second rule? I truly believe that many of today's drivers are brain-washed into thinking they have to drive their car like they see on many of these Nissan and Toyota commercials where they show the cars flying and spinning around on the screen like little toys.

Well the highways in the US are Great and spacious and well kept;of course except the speed limits where a lot of people do not seem to take notice of anyways in Califonia,Nevada and Utah where I was last summer-holidays.I find driving in the US a joy :people still respect ' personal' space.

I drive a lot of German Autobahns for work and yeah their great; except for there is a lot of traffic and speed-limits !! Nowadays a few of them are open for unlimited speeds anymore.

Also by the time you get to a 150 Mph you have to hit the brakes a hard.Driving there is still fun ,besides rush-hours and certainly is Sunday-early monings and late evenings..

Before we have autobahns we need to have German- like driving license exams. Thus 3/4 of all Americans will effectively be banned from driving as they will never be able to obtain a license.

This is what I wanna know as well. Then why don't they do that ? I think adaptive speed limits should be in action rather than steadfast overbearing 55-65 mph on highways .I mean when no one is around , non holiday vacation and the weather permits you should be able to drive up to 200 km/h mark .
However, you will aware of trouble if you get into accident from not keeping following distance between you and the car in front of you .
Since the limit is high then stakes should be higher too
