My car makes no sound at all when locking or unlocking. Locking is three flashes of the lights. Unlocking is one.

The only way to get any audible is to have it coded at the dealer on the earlier cars.

The funny thing is that most folks who have the audio alert want it coded off.

I noticed that on your light switch, you only have two circles on the bottom (lights on and fog lights on). My car has 3, with the 3rd being the rear fog light. Do the later models not offer the rear fog light? On mine, one pull in the lights on position turns on the fogs, with a second click turning on the rear fog light.

For my 2013, I can use the steering wheel buttons to invoke a menu where I can enable/disable audible lock feedback. I believe the default is off. I'm curious if you have that same menu. For me, activating only sounds the horn on lock, but not unlock.

I know that rear fogs are found on European cars. My Euro BMW had rear fogs while the U.S. equivalents did not. I don't know if U.S. DOT allows rear fogs. The fact that [presuming] you have a U.S. spec car and have rear fogs, I guess it is permissible but removed in later years?

---update---

I decided to RTFM. On the 2013 manual, page 280, it reads: "Only vehicles with Bi-Xenon headlamps without the Intelligent Light System are equipped with front fog lamps." In my case, the fog switch activates the *rear* fog lights because I have ILS.

Edit:

I believe the two options associated with ILS are:
615 BIXENON HEADLICHT W.ACTVIE CURVELIGHT RIGHTDRIVE
619 CORNERING ILLUMINATION

Thank you. Believe me, I have nothing but disdain for the broker and shipper. I've considered some action to recover the fees, but I don't believe the end would justify the means. I do not know how these people stay in business.

Onto another subject--if the car is equipped with a rear AC/4-zone climate control, you will lose that large center storage compartment. You end up with a shallow tray underneath the armrest and that is all...

1) Did you pay for the transport with a credit card?

2) I always thought it would be nice to have the rear AC controls, but never knew that you basically lost all center storage. Now with Mike's Eq mod, I would have no room for my stacked ones

$500 of it. Although I'm leaning toward "lessons learned", I'm still thinking about whether it is worth pursuing it....

I was counting on having that big center compartment, but was disappointed to find that shallow tray. My BMW is the same--with rear AC, I lost a compartment in the front.

I'd like to get some feedback on this point. Is this typical for Benz?

Yeah, my BMW had a lot more storage too and I miss it. I figure I'd adapt and keep less in the car. We'll see how that works out...

My 2010 gives three quick "beeps" on lock and one beep on unlock. I've never even heard the horn (except when my wife drives the car). Poke around in that "Vehicle" sub-menu in COMAND and I think you'll find all of the control for that stuff in there.

Went to the dealer.

They will take a look at the rough idle, fogged lights, seat heater (took before photos), and touch up one ding.

They told me that it's on the selling dealer (or me) to address the broken front lower grille, peeling clear coat on wheel, dent on quarter panel, severely scuffed door sills, various scratches on the body, and broken clip on the engine cover (and missing Benz star).

I also asked them look at another item--I programmed the Favorite button to toggle the driver's massage seat. When I press it, massage comes on. When I press it again, massage does not go off. I have to go into COMAND to turn it off. According to the manual, it should be a toggle. Any input on this?

At this point, I suppose I need to contact the selling dealer across the country and fight it out with them? Several mentioned that I should contact M-B directly. What is that route and approach? Any success stories?

BTW, I got a new C-Class as a loaner. It also only has the brief horn honk as the audible locking feedback. No pleasant beep.

Call MBUSA. They will call your dealership and you be treated properly.

And on this horn beep, it's it's only 2013+ cars that now do this, that was an annoying mistake by Mercedes.

You mean next to your 1.4 million dollar house? Maybe some day. When we're ready to downsize and just no longer really care where we live anymore.

And I was totally joking about storing a day's worth of weed in the car. I can easily fit at least four days worth in there no problem.

The park distance us sweet compared to what you came from. It actually works automatically as you slow down but the feature can be turned off. Also it offers a
Automatic parking feature after it finds a parking spot will help u park in the space with a bit of your assistance, very clever. Not a park itself so to speak but is more practical and feels more confident. What is a complete waste on this car is the night view assist.
