Well, it came...
Leave your phone in your pocket or briefcase and drive on full alert for a change. With all of the morons who are distracted by texting, searching for songs or other items on their phone, and have their heads in the clouds while driving and causing accidents and deaths of innocent people, it's enough of a challenge to avoid these idiots and save our own lives by driving at full attention. Don't be part of the problem.

I use mine as my primary music player via Bluetooth Audio so it's nice to have direct control. In that form it's no more a dangerous distraction than any other button or control system in the car. It's also kind of tough to charge your phone while its in your briefcase.
Just because I want to have a phone holder, it doesn't mean that I intend to be one of the "morons who are distracted by texting, searching for songs or other items on their phone, and have their heads in the clouds while driving and causing accidents and deaths of innocent people." I too, like to have a holder that allows me to plug in a charger from underneath. I too, will use the phone to stream content. Everyone's requirement and preferences are different. Having a natural place to put the phone and allow it to charge, especially on long drives, is useful....

That's exactly the kind of lame justification I was expecting to see. Thanks for not disappointing.

Did you ever think about a cigarette lighter charger for your phone? You can then just put it into your center consul and forget about it while it charges. And the beauty of your car is that all phone functions can easily be controlled through COMAND without having to fumble with the phone.
Also, your car is new enough that you can stream music through BT to your car and control everything for that too through COMAND. There's really no point to putting another distracting device at arms length away.

" I try to maintain respect and stay cordial in my conversations, but I don't get what prompted this?At the same time, I would appreciate it if you provide me with the same respect and allow me the opinion and preference of some way that is not yours.
W221s, as far as I know, cannot stream directly through COMAND. I need the Viseeo device. With Android, I do not have full control. And what if I wanted to stream via a radio app? It is also not factual that "all phone functions can easily be controlled through COMAND..."
In terms of charging, I can use a charger plugged into the glove box, and while the phone is in the holder, the connector goes in from underneath, allowing me to keep the ashtray closed, or save that receptacle for the passenger. It actually keeps things neater that way. I can come up with 100 reasons why I prefer what I have set up, but it comes down to preferences and individual needs. It is my car, so I figure I get to do what works for me. I just didn't figure that I'd get attacked over it....

I didn't mean to come off as in your face. It's just that a couple of my kids friends were killed in car accidents recently because they were doing stuff on their phones when they died. It has also caused heartbreak for the other families affected by those tragic accidents. This hits very close to home for me. It's a known fact that drivers distracted by their phones are even more dangerous than drunk drivers. We don't need more folks adding to the epidemic.
On a 2013, you can certainly stream directly to your car with the Visseo device, and flip through your music directly on COMAND and your steering wheel controls....at least that's what I've seen many times on this board. Telephone functions are super simple to use through COMAND. I even have full access to phone lists, last dialed list, incoming calls list, texts, etc directly through COMAND on my 2007. I'm sure your newer car has even more phone functions than mine.
If you're worried about a clean look and keeping your cigarette lighter availably for a passenger, then I'm sure you can run power to your center consul and plug your phone in there. You won't get a cleaner look than that.
I think the sooner we just agree to replace our own judgment and opinions with Dave's, the happier we'll all be.

I guess Mike has been fortunate so far to not be involved in an accident where he's been distracted. At his ripe old age, he better be careful of the law of averages finally catching up to him as he's gazing at the awesomeness of his new I-phone sitting in that pretty little cradle.

I have a wider field of vision than you do because my head isn't up my a$$. Look, I think it's great that you're passionate about the dangers of distracted driving. I have a friend whose kid choked on a hot dog, but I'm not all pissed off at people who like hot dogs. Get over it.
I somehow get the feeling that if or when the day comes that you cause an accident due to your lack of paying full attention to the road and your surroundings when you drive, we won't be hearing about it due to your super-human abilities being compromised.
Your mockery of a very serious situation shows an utter lack of maturity....akin to some smart assed teenager. While I appreciate and often laugh at many of your posts, I can see why some folks get pissed off at you.

If you'd like to start a thread and share your personal experiences with the pitfalls of distracted driving I assure you I'll be completely thoughtful and respectful.
If you're going to try to leverage your experience with a tragedy caused by distracted driving to win an argument on an internet forum that you started with a guy who wants a cell phone mount, that's just pathetic.
And I presume you had to have a biturbo V12 because you're all about obeying the speed limit and driving defensively.
Please.

Please.Old age and lack of maturity aren't that far fetched. I know plenty of people like you.
What's pathetic is that you cannot seem to make the connection that a phone mount that puts your phone always in sight and within reach while driving will cause more distractions due to the likelihood that you're going to be taking your eyes away from the road more, not less.
BTW, I'm not looking to win any arguments. God knows that's impossible with a guy like you. I'm just trying to bring to light that nobody needs another distraction when they're driving. And what the OP installed will invariably lead to more distractions. It's bad enough that we have to protect our own asses from all of the other distracted drivers around us.
To your point about my car....I do drive very defensively and don't haul *** around town. What does a V12 TT in a luxury car have to do with that? Have you thought about the fact that the S600 comes loaded to the gills with every amenity that MB has to offer....and that I might like those amenities? Why do you see 60-75 year old men putzing around town in Corvettes and Porsches? Perhaps they just like those cars and not necessarily the insane power that comes with them. I didn't even race around in my M5. I just liked the car.
Love it
Guys are here to talk cars. If we want a sermon we'll go to church. Agree it's a serious issue. Wrong venue.

Exactly how was my question an argument?
Thank you for that Mike. You're a tool....and now everybody who reads this will likely come to the same conclusion. Enjoy all of you little add-ons.

Since you asked so nicely, here it is:

Really Mike? I've been playing nice in the sandbox with you for a long time....and you decide to make these comments publicly about me? I've enjoyed your light-hearted humor and whit on the board and have even contributed to your mayhem and defended you when others have misunderstood your intentions. Have I not contributed any helpful info to this forum at all? It would seem not after your comments.
Once you've lost somebody close to your family due to distracted driving, perhaps you'll better understand where I was coming from. I hope to God you never have to go through it with your kids, or anybody close to you. These S-classes are loaded with tons of distractions already, so MY OPINION (yes, this is still a forum full of opinions), is that we don't need to add any more.
And regarding your jab at credit union warranties, I just hooked up a fellow forum member who owns an S63 with the exact same warranty I have through my credit union and he couldn't be any happier after searching for coverage for more than 2 years. He doesn't live in my area, so it took some back door maneuvering to get that done. In my quest to help him, I learned that even though most credit unions are part of the CUNA network, almost all of them offer inferior warranties through other companies (if they offered any at all) than mine happened to offer on the 600 and AMG cars, and it's very difficult to find a credit union that offers the same policy that I have. Loaded with this new info, I'll just chalk it up to getting very lucky to be part of a very limited number of credit unions that offer this kind of policy, especially on the 600's and AMG's. Although I learned that many of the credit unions still offer low priced and high quality coverage on the S550's.
And regarding your other jabs about V12's, Android phones, and color combo's....whatever dude.
Enjoy your NA V8, I-phone mount, light colored interior (please tell me you have light colored interior...
) CPO'd Benz. I hope you find years of safe motoring pleasure. We all have out truths and I think all of us are at the point of life where an Internet forum is not going to change who we are.
