The display it set to auto but not matter I do, the nav screen, speedo etc. stays dark (the car thinks its dark out) the headlights are on during the day, when the DRL's should be on instead. I've started and stopped, locked and unlocked the car multiple times and it won't get out of night mode. If I go to vehicle settings and click display and take it off auto mode and press day mode it will go to day mode for nav and speedo, but the car and the headlights still thinks it's night time.

I did a reset on the same screen where you select day/auto/night and it didn't fix anything. I also didn't think ahead of time that this would clear all the songs in my music register and everything I put in there, dammit.

Ideas?

Thanks, I wish that was the case. I always have it set on auto and its still on auto. I did try all other modes and the DRL's will not come on no matter what. The car still thinks it's in night mode because if I go back to the display and then hit auto it makes everything dark again.

The car is garage kept and normally when starting it in the garage the display black (night mode) but as soon as I pull into the sun it switches. No matter what I do in the sun it will not come off night mode.

Sounds to me like a sensor of some kind is dirty or inoperable, but where it lives ..?

Sounds like a sun sensor problem. The sensor is located in the center of the grill with the windshield washer sprayers. It detects the sun and its position in relation to the car. It also has a significant influence on the heating and cooling of the car because the system adjusts the airflow based on where the sun is. Check this sensor to make sure it is not blocked by something, or painted over, and that it has not come un-mounted. If everything is OK mechanically have it checked with DAS to see if it is OK electrically.

car needs to be read and if not ambient light sensor errors are detected the "automatic" setting for the dash in DAS should be reconfirmed.
