Bluetooth

I went to the local dealer for a replacement "puck" to get the Bluetooth working on the 2009 S550 I bought last month. They were going to charge me $537 for this "puck" but when they inserted it, they determined that the harness it goes in has a severed wire (or two). I was quoted $160 to determine what would be involved in repairing the wiring for the harness. Should I go ahead with this minimum expense of $700 at the dealership, OR take my chances with a local mechanic and hope for the best?

Curious how they determined there was one or more severed wires by just plugging in the puck. Considering that the path of those wires is completely hidden, if would be very odd for one or more wires to become severed.

As far as the puck goes, get one on eBay. I bought mine for $90 ,and there are a ton for sale at any given time. $537 might have made sense when these were new cars, but I'm surprised the dealership would still be charging that much

I'm bringing the car into a local dealer tomorrow for a few "issues" and will have them look into repairing the damaged wire(s). Someone on this forum offered to sell me a puck for
$140. I haven't searched E-Bay yet. Are they all compatible?

What's a "puck"?

If it's the Bluetooth module in the arm rest, there are 3 options -

MB HFP which is the most common one. Cheap on Ebay but try to get a more recent model

MB SAP which is more expensive and has more features though it's incompatible with a lot of phone

Aftermarket Viseeo models which has a lot more features and cheaper but I'm not sure about the quality
