Aftermarket brake pads, when compared to OE, generally offer no free lunch. From what I know, Merc pads will offer the best behavior (noise, vibration, etc.) and stopping power. They are very dusty. Aftermarket pads, while less dust, may offer inferior stopping power.
From a simpleton's perspective: There are two surfaces creating friction. Unless the two materials are exactly the same, one will be harder and the other will be relatively softer. In general, the softer material will wear faster than the harder. To me, the OE setup is designed to provide the best braking performance including good rotor wear characteristics, but the softer pads and chemistry impart excessive dust. Aftermarket pads like Akebono *may* accomplish the less-dust feature by being harder. Something has to give... At the same time, the Amazon reviews are generally great, so what do I know?
I can understand why you ask, since, in the cpo report it was shown that they replaced the steering wheel and seat cover/heater. Upon receipt, however, the wheel and seat cover were not new and the heater was defective.
