Aircon maintenance ?

What must be done to service the aircon system of the W221 ?

More specifically what kind of refrigerant is used?
Does the evaporator or any other part require any attention?

Want to have refrigerant topped up as with my vehicule the system works and cools ok but not optimal.
Yes the blower works fine and have replaced the active carbon interiour filters recently as well.

The U.S.-based AC system uses R134A. I can't speak for anywhere else in the world. There should be a decal in the engine compartment that specifies the type of refrigerant and amount by weight.

A properly functioning system should not need to be topped off--that is to say, it should not be leaking in any way. The correct way to fill/refill the system is to completely evacuate the system to the extent of drawing a vacuum, then refill by weight.

Yes, in the old days you can just buy a can of R12 and jam it in. In modern ACs, simply adding without measuring can adversely affect the important pressure balance in the system.
