2011 Mercedes S63 AMG
I made a huge mistake on the weekend... I sat in a 2015 S63 AMG and feel in love with it..

I may be unfaithful to the W221 and trade her in.....

The interior is AMAZING and the fact that its 4 matic is another reason for wanting it. The W221 was good in the up to 6 inch range of snow but not that great above that.

BTW... I saw the clown face JasonB.... I can't stop seeing that now.

Depends on the weather
I made the mistake of testing a Maybach S600 a while ago....it's a beautiful car inside. The back has a lot of room.

I'm happy with no car payments and my 8 year old beauty. :-)

I'm not sure what my next car will be....the future will tell...but I'm content for now. :-)

4matic isn't going to help you much in the snow with that car. You would have to still put on a dedicated snow tire package as acceleration and braking would be brutal on those tires/rims, even for AWD. A wheel/snow tire package on your S63 would completely transform your car for the winter. I've been running these packages on my RWD cars for the last 9 years and it makes them perform like SUV's in the winter. Even though the AMG packages make the W222 look a lot better, the cars still have those femmy body lines and taillights, not to mention the strange looking front end. If I were to consider the a new AMG S-class, it would only be the coupe, which looks soooo much better.

Actually, your car is almost 10 years old. Based on the trunk antenna, it likely has an early 2006 build date. The age, low mileage, and condition of our cars makes them even more impressive.

Mercedes-Benz 2007 S550, 2012 S550 4-Matic, 2015 GL450
Every now and then I get to thinking maybe I should trade my 2007 S550, but the car meets my needs and is still so superlative compared to most vehicles on the road today. Best of all it's paid for. I know many of you like the mid-cycle refresh design with the angular grill and LED's. To me, I love the early model W221 design. S-Classes to me have always been about a rounded air dam, curved corner grills and big front face presence. The front fascias of the W116, the W126, and W140 were all big grills with rounded edges...bordering on overweight looking. The new W222 continues that look with the huge jack-o-lantern grill. It's a beautiful car, but I'm not sold that it's THE car yet. S-Classes should be masculine. The new W222 is feminine like the W220. The W222 interior is too Liberace for me. I want teutonic, minimalist, Bauhaus style, you will only get it ziss way kind of German. I buy a German car, give me a German interior, damn it. Not some Italian Gucci bag looking interior with the cross stitching. I suppose that's what's missing for me in the new S-Class.

So without getting , I like that even in the SF Bay Area where I live, the W221 S-Classes are still a rare sight. I occassionally notice passengers in cars beside me glance over to check the car out. It's still a really unique looking car with the fender flares, the Maybach inspired rear and the massive profile, so I understand why they would look.

I definitely believe in winter tires. I run Bridgestone Blizzak on my current car. I used the stock wheels for that.

I get what everyone says about the W222.. its hard for me to tell if its a C class or S class coming down the road until I see it from the side. Even the rear from a distance looks like a C class. The thing I love about it is the interior, I think that is the nicest interior of any car on the road.

I don't have kids yet so 4 doors for me until I have and they get a bit older. Now if they take the interior of the S class and put something similar in the GL63, thats a vehicle i'd buy in a heart beat.

Here in Toronto its rare to see another W221 as well. I get a lot of people giving me a thumbs up at lights or complimenting it at parking lots. The most famous question is "hows she on gas". Every person is surprised once I tell them I get 600-650km per tank and the tank holds about 75 liters.

Actually the tank holds 90 liters. I agree with the mileage, pretty impressive for a car of more than 2 1/2 tons. I'm about to head off to Florida down I 75 and wouldn't be surprised to get more than 800 km per tank. I expect plus 30 MPG. I'll post after I get there.

90!!!! I have never been able to squeeze more than 75 liters in her. That's with the gas light on.

This really impressed me coming back from my cottage.

Holy crap! I'm averaging 13.5 mpg....with almost all local driving. I believe I can get that number up to 20 on a long trip cruising at 75...but it hasn't been on a trip yet.

I was so surprised at those numbers when I saw them. Who would have thought a 5.5L twin turbo could get such great gas mileage. According to the meter, I could have gone almost 1100km. I don't think that is real but it makes you wonder.

You're talking about your S63, right? I could have sworn that those all had 6.2L NA V8's in them.

I have a 2011 so it's the first year with the 5.5L V8 bi-turbo in them.

2010 E550 P2 w/AMG Sport Package + Pano, 2015 Nissan Pathfinder
I have one neighbor with an S550 it's the nicest car in the area lol. However in Bergen County where I work I see atleast 1 a day and only see an E550 it feels like every other month. We have a running thread in the W212 area calling them unicorns of MB so to speak. That alone gets me tons of looks but that S is special.

I don't like them too crazy. I'll be happy with the AMG body kit and slightly lowered with my current 19" AMG rims off the W221.

Nice! I had a black 06 S500 that I loved. Great car. Not as sporty out of the box as the 221 but drove every bit as nice.

The W221 is very nice but ever since I first laid eyes on the W220 15 years ago I have wanted one and as an adult I finally got the pleasure of owning one

I had two. The last of the "stately" S Classes. You could dress them up with the AMG package but it never really completely pulled off the sport sedan thing. Yours looks great. 20" 221 wheels and is that an aftermarket front bumper/grille? Don't be in a rush to trade to a 221. It's a nice car but completely different vibe. Enjoy the 220 as long as you can.
