2008 S550 center console replacement
Hey guys,

I'm sure this is a big issue across the board...the leather on my center console is super stretched and worn down...I have the gray color interior, what the best solution for this? I did a search but didn't see anything special.

You're referring to the leather on the center console storage bin? The lid can be ordered as a finished color coded assembly from your dealer for a few hundred bucks.

Haven't done it (mines black and in decent shape.) I'd just have the shop catch it next time it's in service.

I could only imagine a lot of the 07/08 S classes would have the worn or stretched leather on the lid of the center console...I wish there was an easy fix for this. :/

Mine still looks brand new....just like everything else on the car...more than 9 years after it was put into service. I guess it depends on how the previous owner(s) treated it. The leather in these cars generally holds up very well, especially with occasional conditioning.

Grey is bad for wear. One MB dealer had a creative solution for a CPO car I drove two hours to see: Pull the leather off and spray paint the unwrapped cover.

Doesn't sound too promising. lol. Mine was pretty stretched when I bought it and its been getting worse...I'll figure out a solution and post it up when i'm down with it.

Idea....go see a shoe cobbler/leather shop.... likely could wet down to shrink and/or re-dye to match.... should be less than "a few hundred"? just a thought.... remember OJ's gloves?

hmmm...not a bad idea. I'll yelp some shops and see if its possible. I'll try to post a pic of the center console lid so you guys see how bad it is....
