S600 wheels / tires fitment ?

Hi guys!
Im looking at a set of Vossen 22" CV1's that are being sold locally and was just wondering if the tire sizes are ok with my 2007 S600!

The wheels are 22x9 front and 22x10.5 rear with the tires 255/30r22 and 295/35r22 respectively.

I do understand I will lose a lot of ride comfort but I will just be using these just a few months per year (2 months at most because the weather here in Vancouver is horrible) so as long as the tires won't cause any problems to the car then I should be fine!

Thank you guys!

To have the proper tire diameter on 22" wheels, you'd need to go 255/25/22 on the front and 285/25/22 on the back.

Count on bending some rims and/or tire blowouts as those tires are basically rubberbands. IMO, 22's look ridiculous on an S-class, unless your car will spend most of the time in questionable neighborhoods and you make your living as an illegal business proprietor.

Hi Dave, thank you so much.

Just one more question, I'm also considering 21" HRE's. 9" front 10.5" rears.

Tire sizes are 285/30 ZR21 et 41 on the rears and 255/30 ZR21 et34 fronts.

Are these going to be ok for my car? Ive already scratched 22"s off the list

Thank you!

Those should fit fine. But you will be looking at a rougher ride with 21's and a still high probability of bent wheels and blowouts. Make sure you get a road hazard warranty on your tires if available. Bit there's a good chance that you won't be able to get a warranty on 30 or less profile tires. IMO, 20's look best and offer the best compromise of ride, handling, and all weather driving.

Hi Dave, thank you so much you have been extremely helpful!

I haven't been able to find a decent set of 20's that I like, and I wanted to go down the used set route instead of buying new :\

I understand I will lose a lot of comfort in the ride but I will be switching these wheels on for 2-3 months of the year (just the summer) and back to stock for the other 9 months since its like winter for most of the year here in Vancouver

As long as they fit and won't cause any problems with the car (other than tire problems) I will go with these.

Again, thank you so much for the help!

Dave, 1 more question if you could help me out!

So I need a new set of tires to go along with the wheels already!

I want to go for higher profile tires to try to protect my wheels a bit more so for the fronts I'm thinking of going either 265/35/21, or 245/35/21. Ideally I wanted 255/35/21 but they don't come in that size... how do I make the decision between 245 width or 265 or does it really make any difference other than appearance? Will they both fit? The price doesn't matter because its only ~100$ difference for the two.

For rear I want to go with 285/35/2 (this should be able to fit right?)

Im CURRENTLY running 255/30/21 front and 285/30/21 rear, I just want a bit more protection against the road for my wheels.

Lastly, is it ok to run two brands of tires (ex. michelin fronts, and pirelli rears)?
Thank you!!!

Depends on the weather
I think you may get rubbing using a 265 in the front. I am running 255/40/20 front and 285/35/20 rears and I think if I went with a wider front tire it would rub.

As far as running 2 different brand tires front and rear, you can do it as long as the fronts are the same and rears are the same but I advise to run the same on all 4.

I have toyo proxes t1 sport on all 4 and just replaced the rears with new bf goodrich comp 2 a/s 285's because no one had the toyos in stock and the fronts are not available to be released until 11/15/15 so I'll be getting the fronts to match then. I like the bf goodrich so far. I burned through the rear toyos in about 6000 miles....too much go fast burning rubber lol. The fronts still look brand new...at least i'll have 2 front spares. :-)

Yep, so I guess I have to go with 245/35/21 and 285/30/21.

I am giving up 10 mm depth in the front tires in order to get an extra 5 on the sidewall, but I need that extra protection!

You should be going 255/30/21 on the front and 275/30/21 on the rears to have the proper diameter. Your speedo will be off if you go with the sizes you are proposing. The speedo works off the front axle, so I guess the rears aren't as big of a deal.

Dave, could you please clarify:

I am currently running 255/30/21 but I got a bent wheel in the first 2 weeks of driving on them... the tires didn't pop but the rims bent and were damaged and came apart from the tire and lead to a flat!

So that is why I was hoping to upgrade the profile to 245/35/21... increasing 5 in profile and decreasing 10mm in depth in order to hopefully protect my wheels from being damaged even more..

Are you saying I should keep 255/30/21? Do you think going from 30 to 35 will actually help me a lot in terms of protection against road hazards?

Thank you

If you're bending/breaking rims, you should go with 20" wheels. Even AMG doesn't go bigger than 20.

Get your bent rim repaired, then try to sell them.

I am convinced it was an unlucky pothole encounter for me.. :|
The roads are fine for me here during the summer in Vancouver!
I will have these wheels for just 2 months a year on the car and then back to stock AMG's for the other 10 months, and I actually really like the look of them on my car which is why I've decided to keep them at least for this year!

Would you recommend 245/35/21 or 255/30/21 if you had to choose?

Thank you so much for your input!

255/30/21 would have the correct diameter and width for the car. The 245's are almost an inch taller. Not a huge deal if they don't rub, but your speedo will be reading lower than what your actual speed is.

You'd probably have to get an alignment going with taller tires too as the camber will likely be off.
