Hello,
I have been driving a GL for several years and I would like a change. I was thinking of getting an S-Class. I was wondering if anyone here has kids and drives an S-Class?
How convenient is it with car seats? Do you find it that it has enough space? I have a four year old and a newborn.![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

Hi,
I have a 6 year old. Even with a large Britax convertible booster car seat with the side impact cushions installed on the middle position of the back seat, I can accommodate his grandparents next to him, whenever they visit. There is also ample legroom for him as his feet are barely able to touch the back seat. Car seat is easily installed with the latch system. There are three latch points behind the headrests. However, trunk/boot space might be an issue depending on what you normally transport with the kids.

I have a 2004 S500 and it is a beautiful car and I have 3 children that I tote around. Lots and lots of room for everything!! It is so easy to put a car seat in and to know they are safe. There is so much room!!! Also the trunk is huge. The car is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned! As you can tell we just love it. Happy hunting!!!

I have 2 little ones, I find it easier to put them up into my x5, but theres plenty of roo in the back of the s, plus the seats are greatly designed to clip in and out the car seats.

My wife has a new Audi Q7 SUV, very posh (for VW) and nicely equipped and seats 7. Yet whenever we go anywhere as a family it's in the S. Which is probably why she's way under mileage on her lease and my 2010 is pushing 80k miles. If we owned anything else but the S, the Q would be the go to family hauler, but it can't compete.

I have a 2007 S550 with three kids: a 6-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 1-year-old. There is plenty of room - but my 6-year-old has to ride in the middle and about 60 percent of the time, he can't buckle the belt himself.
Plenty of room. But my wife is still wanting to trade her Expedition for a minivan.

My 6'2 son, 5'10 daughter, and another 5'8 daughter all fit comfortably together in the back seat with plenty of leg and head room to spare. I really wouldn't be too worried about how much room there is for little kids.

+1 for the s-class being a great car even with kids. Anytime we go anywhere my 2 year old goes "are we taking daddy's car?"
My only gripes:
My toddler still thinks it's fun to open the door when the car is in motion and have us scream at him. The w221 child safety lock is... well, there's no child safety lock. This is documented in another thread but in summary, before the doors lock automatically a child can open the doors.
He also thinks it's fun to yank on the side window blinds. I shudder to think how much that system costs to replace but luckily he hasn't broken it yet.
last one is that my dog is not allowed in the Benz, so when we want to take him somewhere, we have to use the other car (cue the dance - oops, no ignition button, oops, gear shift is in the center console, oops, seats and mirrors don't adjust with the push of a button...)
