Geez these were a pain in the *** to source and expensive, plus I ended up having every one of them 'furbed by Turbax but I gotta admit they look good on the car. These are OEM with 20mm spacers rear and 15mm front.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I'll post better ones never.

The other set, for comparison...

Yep. The split 5 spoke with the machined face is "pretty" whereas the single raised spoke wheel looks "tough". I especially like the way the rears look on the spacers. Now to decide which set will go with the car at trade-in and which will stay for the next S/CL I get. Hmmm...

they do look good, however!!! I like the split 5's better. At trade in you swap them with someone that kept the nasty unstaggered 19's... Like me..

They both are a great choice but if I had to choose would go with the split 5's

My fave car among the W221 Owners
I have said this before and won't get tired of re iterating that there is nothing wrong with adorning your car with AMG parts / accessories as long as you don't make an untoward mistake putting S63 AMG badges on your "docile" S550

Yeah, I wouldn't do that out of respect to the guys who actually pony up for the real AMG cars. But when it comes to mods IMO nothing does it for the car like the AMG bits. I actually didn't start out trying for an S63 clone but bit by bit that's where she ended up. No surprise I guess because I drool over the S63/65 whenever I see one.

Meanwhile, while these ran smooth the day they were mounted, this weekend we took her a couple of hours out to the beach and there's a high frequency vibration in the wheel. I'm hoping I threw a weight but nothing is more fun than hunting down a vibration on refurb wheels on thick spacers.

Man, the single spoke are so much easier to keep clean. But I still have the split 5s.

Totally understand. Mine are the 3 spokes at 15 per wheel or 1 beer per wheel.

Wheels look great but I recommend lowering it a bit (1"). The overall presence/sportiness of the car will be greatly enhanced.

I think the lowered cars look great but ride like a truck. I did a modest drop on my 220 and it seems like the amount of lowering it takes to make a visual difference is exactly the amount necessary to affect the ride. I'm all about that cloud-like ride in an S Class so no lowering for me. Love the look though.

That is true when using links. Light drops won't affect ride quality but the lower the car the stiffer the ride.

That's why I use an electronic lowering module. Zero affect on ride quality as the car raises itself over 30 mph. Not even an alignment needed...

So at 30 it rises. Is the >30 rise proportional as speed increases? I like the concept, just trying to understand the ride hieght vs ride quality preservation issue at HWY speed. The faster the car the higher it rises? I would like to lower the car but, like Mike, I don't want to lose the cloud ride. The module has programming capability to set ride height at any given speed? Thanks.

The module provides 2 or 3 different saved settings for how much you want to drop the car. You might want to have different drops for certain occasions. I use only one setting, but it's an option which can be changed instantly via tablet (I have the Renntech V3 module).
The rise at 30mph is back to stock height. No gradual raise; it just goes back to stock when going faster. Think of it as the module simply turning itself off over the defined speed.
Because of that, no alignment is needed as tire wear occurs at higher speeds.

The 30mph setting is recommended but can be adjusted to a different number.
The cool thing is that the ride height of every wheel can be set in 1mm increments so you can set the height perfectly to your liking.

Personally I just like it a touch lower than stock, no extreme drops but all is possible.

So at over 30 mph, the computer defaults back to stock function as to ride hiehgt settings based on speed?

If set to 30mph, yes. Think of the module simply de-activating the lowered settings. When you slow down for a red-light etc. the car will automatically be at the lowered level.

The rise and lowering between the two settings takes only a second or so and occurs while driving, something the driver never notices. I have looked at it while my wife was driving. Totally smooth...
