Living in a sunny sub tropical state, I need to add window tint my car.
I'm looking at 3M Crystalline as it appears to be highest performance tint on the market.
Does anyone have this exact series on their car? I'm wondering how it works in real life and how it looks when combined with the factory blue-gray window tint?
I almost went with it but decided not to. They demo'd it for me with a heat gun. I couldn't believe it. If you have a problem with the heat, definitely go for it. It's like night and day.
i have 3m tint on my car but not sure if its the crystalline. i live in houston so it gets pretty hot. so far no issues at all and i did notice throughout the summer the tint worked out great. the inside wasnt a hot when i get in it.
The bluish hue you see really isn't tint. It's the UV reflective coating in the glass. IMO, it does a pretty decent job on it's own of keeping the heat out. If it's really hot outside, I just hold down the unlock button which rolls down the windows, opens the sunroof, and turns on the seat blowers. After a few seconds, almost all of the heat is out of the car and the interior temp matches the outside.

I'm worried about the tint looking purple.......there are several reports online of this happening.

I havent tried that...didnt even know it worked on these.
Any tint you get is going to give that reflective blue/mirror look when the suns hits it at the right angle. Other times it will look jet black. I was able to catch it in this picture.
Be wary of any metalic tint as it does cut radio reception. The S already has UV filters in the glass and other properties that block radio reception. That is why there is a rectangular area just above the dash for things like radar detectors.
I tinted the windows on my E class and I wish I had used a ceramic technology. Radio reception is dramatically affected with the wrong tint.
