Finding an S550 w/ AMG Sport Package (Pre-Facelift)
I was really looking for a 2010 535Xi m-sport wagon but there were so few made, it's difficult to find one. Also it's an older design and not great from that perspective.
The S550 popped up at a local MB dealer P2, AMG and it was really nice, no accidents, 1 owner, low mileage, no rim damage, new OEM tires, batteries, services, trans fluid changed on time. Not too expensive.
On another occasion I had driven a Boxster S which I thought was a great driving car, but it was smoked in and had a transmission/ clutch issue. I think I'd like a GT3. Maybe if I'm feeling rich at some point.
I see the ferraris and lambos being driven as daily drivers a lot.

We're pretty far from the OP though.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Problem is I can't find one! The only S550s available around my area are the base model. Also I can't do the 2010-up version because it exceeds my budget.
We can deal with the base's insurance rates, but are the insurance rates for the Sport any higher than the base due to the fact that it's less common?
OR
Should I just buy the base model without the AMG Sport Package and slap on the AMG looks later?
I have some time to get this done, so their is no real hurry. Even though I want do get this over-with.

On a side note i live in rochester and have done numerous repairs on the ML and have some DIY threads in the w164 forum. hit me up if you need help with repairs.

However the numbers are significantly lower for the M Class, the only thing that would be higher is fuel, but everything else being lower compensates for that drawback.
Another thing is that Buffalo winters suck, an ML550 w/ 4Matic will be far more superior in the snow than an S550 with 4Matic. Good point Mike5215.
Unfortunately there's a catch. if we buy an M, we will have 3 cars. our condo's owner only allows 2 cars. So that means I'll have to let my Jag go, that's not going to be easy for me to do but if I have to, family needs come before toys.
...go buy a new Honda -- at this point in your life/situation you'd be fool to max yourself out and buy a used MB...
...in fact, go buy a nice used Honda for $10k or $15k and save the rest...
