A new C400 loaded is a very nice car. Not a S Class at all but compared to the C Classes of old it is great! They finally made a good one.

Yeah, they stopped making them when the C450 AMG(?) came out. So it's either the T4 or the TT6. I've been driving a T4 now for two weeks and I love the ride and the handling. It drives heavy as far as road imperfections go, but feels very light in handling. Unfortunately, it's not anywhere near as attractive outside as the S. Looks kind of lumpy and stubby to me. It would take the perfect combo of an AMG kit, the right color, and the right aftermarket wheels (with about 10mm lower offsets) to make it palatable.

W205 can be available with AIRMATIC at optional but I still doubt in terms of it's ride quality it would be on par with the W221s
At least car dealers can provide you a courtesy car , watch dealers can't

Today before returning the C...fun little car BTW, I made a recording of ambient cabin noise at various speeds for later comparison with the S.
The recording app worked fine in the C, producing several minutes of audio of the wind noise and tire sounds. But later in the S it kept stopping itself. I couldn't understand what was wrong with it. Yeah, it wasn't picking up enough signal in the S and shut itself down to save memory. So there's your answer.
I will say the steering feel is so much tighter and lighter in the C, and it's a blast to drive. The tech is very nice, the seats are no less comfortable, and the interior design is great. The cabin is tiny compared to the S, but by the third day it felt roomy enough. The premium Burmester audio in the C has active noise cancellation (listens to the ambient noise, creates the inverse sound wave and plays it back thru the speakers, canceling the noise in the cabin). I didn't have the Burmester in the loaner but I auditioned one on the floor. Very nice, but my Audison/Focal system sounds a good deal better. A lot more detail and a huge soundstage.
Now the C is probably not my choice for a replacement when the S retired, but if they carry those elements plus more luxury and room into the 2017 E, that's a serious contender.
Price wise, you can build a ***** out C for $55k and have a really nice, loaded car, and I'm guessing the E is going to start around there and approach 222 base territory very easily. It debuts Jan 11th at the NY Auto Show and the configurator should go live a few weeks later.
