It looks like a deal for $10k. If the transmission was already done then it's a deal. If it needs work then it could get expensive.

no info on the trans... i figure at 130k miles it either been done or if it's held out for this long, it should be fine. I'll just change oil/filter if those are easily serviceable.

I took a look at the S550s for sale in your area. All of the prices seem pretty high, assuming the actual transaction prices are that high, I think this will be highly profitable for you.
In fact when I want to sell my car in a few years, I think that's a great market to sell into.

Yeah the current CAD/USD exchange rate is resulting in a higher CAD price here locally. On the other hand, local cars which can be exported to the US and sold for USD also result in higher returns, due to the favorable USD exchange rate

yeah I already scheduled a service at a local Merc Indy for tranny service. They quoted me $350, which is very reasonable I feel.

The odometer would need to be converted to MILES/HR to be sold in the US market right? How much would that cost?

this particular car is originally from California. So the cluster is already in Miles... i'm actually screwing around with STAR trying to get it to show Kilometers... stupid 2007 cars don't have the option to swtich it from Miles to KM in the cluster...

well after playing around with DAS/Xentry I was able to figure out how to switch the cluster to KM. Great Success!
I changed the front rotors/brakes hoping to resolve the metal on metal scraping noise when driving. New brakes did not resolve the issue. After further examination I found that the front wheel bearings are shot... my next project... I called Mercedes, they want $500 per side for new hubs, they dont sell wheel bearings separate. I will try to either find an aftermarket bearing kit or piece it together myself. certainly not spending $500 on new hubs when the only issue are $10 bearings.

Took a bit of digging around, but I was able to come up with the parts required to replace the front wheel bearings. No one seems to make a kit that fits the S550. The only kit i was able to find with a part number 230 330 03 25MY was for E/CLS/SL. It even listed that it fits an S63, but not the S550. Could be a mistake, I don't know. I checked the part numbers for the actual hubs for the E/CLS/SL and compared them to the S/CL hubs and they are different...
Anyway, the bearings that I found that are supposed to fit are:
SKF BR32205 (outer bearing and race)
SKF 32008X (inner bearing and race)
0259971647 (seal) (Mercedes part number. It seems to cross reference to Beck Arnley 052-4069 or 052-4100. I ordered both to see which one is correct)
Now I have to wait till Monday to get all the parts... car going to sit with the front hubs taken apart until then
