Can you imagine this stuff without a warranty? You bought a nearly brand new, perfectly maintained S600 (mileage and wear wise) and it was no protection from the gremlins.

In the eight years on this board I have never heard anyone who bought a real warranty complaining that it was a pointless and unnecessary expense. A lot of tears shed in the other direction though.

Not just branded title cars. High mileage cars, and the AMG cars are impossible to get a decent warranty on at any price.

My warranty company covers AMG cars for the same price as S550's & S600's. Amazing and true. If I would have purchased a 2007 S65 with 24k miles, I would have only paid $3300 for 7 years and 75k miles of coverage. A rare find indeed.

Dam, the more I read about 'Cedes warranties the more a deal it seems.

Honestly, Do you drive around in fear of the next this breaking? I'm beginning to think that is how S-class drivers drive around. All the luxury ride in the world isn't worth that.

That's why these boards are so incredibly entertaining. Young guys go in and spend $20-30k on a 8-10 year old Benz with 75-100k miles and think they are getting the deal of the century....since their car originally stickered for almost $100k. They have no clue about how ridiculous the maintenance and repair costs are going into it. They are only thinking about impressing their friends with their styling ride....and it ends up nearly bankrupting them. They come here for advice complaining that the dealers are ripping them off and are looking for ways of doing their own maintenance and repairs....having no idea that these cars aren't anything like working on a 20 year old Civic. Buying a high mileage S-class without a warranty is absolutely insane from what I've observed here.

A 6-7 year old S-class with 35k miles that cost $35k and has an exclusionary warranty for 3-4 years that costs $4k will cost the owner much less over 4 years than a 8-9 year old S-class with 100k miles that cost $20k with no warranty coverage.

Great point.
