According to the WA DMV they will waive the registration requirement for up to three days on a trip permit. Nothing in the statute waives the insurance requirement.
Yes, they waive all registration requirements. Because you can't get it registered until you have the car inspected.

Wouldn't it be a bummer to drive an average of 25k miles a year for all of your 20s and never have to use insurance? Up to age 25 insurance payments are outrageous even with a beater.
Nobody likes to pay income tax, or get a prostate exam or anything else that is both 1)Not fun and 2)Expensive.
You have $15,000 to spend on a project car but you can't afford to drive a car legally? Doesn't that sound f'd up to you?

Your kids are fortunate enough to have a loving father who is A: Willing to add his kids onto his insurance, and B: Willing to pay for their insurance.
I'm trying to give his stupidity an excuse.
Benzs55, please refrain from posting in other threads and keep your activity in this one. There are many new Benz owners who are looking for help and don't know about your complete lack of knowledge of these cars. It would be best that you don't try to "help" them and possibly lead them toward disastrous consequences with their cars.

If you feel I'm misguiding new members, take it up with the moderators. Until then, take your doctor prescribed chill pills and keep calm.

Benzs55 has a point... you can't paint all Ukrainians / Russians / Euros for being as 'dull apple' as a general rule based on the actions of one 'dull apple'.
Someone earlier alluded that this thread reminds them of the Titanic... I can see this now...
Launched ... OOeeer.. beautiful, lovely... Can't wait to see the destination.
Progress... Speed up! (accessory's before necessity's) Shortcuts! (tree to frame mentality) Don't mind the ice bergs! (frame pull? pfft... panels? mallet!)
Danger... Ice berg! (Proper Inspection) ... Hard to Port! (NY->OR->WA avoidance route)...
Impact... No problems! Unsinkable! (design/thinking flaw... passengers think we have enough lifeboats.. they don't check insurance so it's ok!)
Sinking... WTF not enough lifeboats? (no insurance!) Lock up the peons in steerage! (which is where you'll end up when you crash and injure someone)
it's comedic up to impact ... after that it's tragic.
You want respect from fellow MB owners... you have to show respect back and flouting the rules is the opposite of that. (and worse, makes you come out 'dull apple' which I'm sure you are not).

Wikipedia says your stuck in the middle ages DaveW.. Don't be a ignorant closed minded fool.
That was also a google search. Done similarly to the one I did for the new guy with fault codes. I suppose obd-codes.com gives out dangerous advice.

But neither of those points are relevant against your decision to spend money on fridge/steering wheel ahead of insuring your Cedes... so no, statement that you think about it all the time is not correct.

Uncanny...

I like the way your mind works

Your right, I did go overboard and do it backwards buy buying those items first. It was foolish me, because if I wouldn't have bought them the car would already be in the shop for repair.
It would have been easier to lie to Mike about having insurance. But I needed a push in the area of needing insurance, and I'm glad Mike called me out on it. I would rather tell the truth and learn, than lie and maintain a false sense of respect.
