I wonder if our struts would last longer if be applied conditioner to the rubber every 20k miles?

So far the only useful thing i got so far, is the Picture of the car......everything else is just duck tales from the OP. And of course the comedic value of this thread is priceless.

Seeing as you've spoken with the previous owner before, it wouldn't hurt to get back in touch and ask him if he happens to have the paperwork/receipts/statements of work done on the Cedes filed away somewhere...if he does, you can send him a post paid return envelope for them etc (if he hasn't thrown it and based on receipts floating around in the car, sorta unlikely but no harm trying.)
And ask him about the airmatic
As for trying conditioner... I haven't run into any 'tips' of that nature that extend the life of the bags, and I researched heavily the things when looking to buy an MB because it's a known 'maintenance' item and one of the expensive ones.

I googled Duck Tales, and the urban dictionary says it means to tell a lie. Lol, what about any of this is a lie? I really do have a salvage title S(with insurance mind you) with no money to fix it!

I'm waiting to hear back from him about about the records and Airmatic.

When Airmatic struts fail, its because theres a tear in the rubber right? I understand a whole host of other issues, like a failed compressor or broken feed line may happen. but by and large its the rubber that dries and becomes brittle?

Not possible. His car doesn't have the AMG sport appearance package so you know it was driven responsibly.

Oh, he decided it didn't make sense for him to pay for insurance because it's so expensive for drivers his age and he'd feel pretty stupid paying for insurance he was never going to use.

Yeah....I totally forgot about that. The a$$hole who previously owned his car floored it in reverse and hit a large stationary object to do the damage....and then kicked in the rear quarters for good measure to make sure the insurance company would total it. We all get a little bit forgetful as we age.

I wonder if the guys in the Mustangs where part of the IROC club (Italian Retards Out Cruising)? If Benzs55 is still wondering why insurance rates are high for drivers under 25, see exhibit #1 above.

Wow. Just spent the last 40 minutes trying to cover this thread. It was a handful. I still ask myself WHY are we all glued to this type of thread? What is that factor that keeps us glued?

Are most of us hoping for him to fail and see him in misery and for him to learn a lesson OR were we hoping he'd pull through it and see a success story of some guy who saved money buying a wrecked car and pull it off with DIY fixing? I know the answers of some of the guys here

But damn I gotta give it to the OP, with all the insults and let downs, he's hanging on still determined. But really was it worth it going through all this hassle? So far how much on top of the buying price did you invest on this already? I see a 2007 S550 with 82K miles for under $20K in California.

Was it worth it for you to go through this 'experience' to try and save money(I assume that was the factor in you buying this) instead of getting one that didn't need any work?

Anyways, I not sure on your current progress with this but good luck and hope it was worth it to you. I woulda gave up long ago much less make such a purchase.

The only way I would do this is if I were a body man myself or had hookups and knew all the ins and out and done a real thorough research. The people I met in the past who purchase from Copart were dealers that had their own body shops and bought cars to make profit. You took a great 'risk'. I hope it was worth it for you.

I have never bought a car that was not off Copart. I don't know what it feels like to get a car already fixed and ready to go(except for my TL, which was bought off Copart, but already fixed). It would have been easier/cheaper/quicker to fix if I had known so many parts of it are aluminum.

Yet, I still feel its fine. As long as I've got a song in my heart, this car will see the light once again.

Not so much. I pretty much skip over OP's posts and read the comedy from everyone else. I am thinking about cancelling my Netflix subscription. You can't find comedy any better than this anywhere else on the Internet. I haven't been to the W212 forum in months. No entertainment value. I am thinking I might have to get a C class just to be able to legitimately participate in that forum with Mike over there.
